Process Safety Engineer
Process Safety Engineer – Agratas
What You’ll Do
As a Process Safety Engineer at Agratas, you’ll be a subject matter expert, supporting our engineering and design teams to integrate process safety into factory and process design. This role is based in the UK, with potential for some international travel and will report to the Process Safety Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and provide expert technical support in process safety areas such as:
- ATEX/DSEAR risk assessments
- Hazardous area classification
- Safe handling of combustible dusts
- Control of electrostatic hazards
- Support process risk assessments and hazard analyses, including:
- HAZID (Hazard Identification)
- HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Studies)
- LOPA (Layers of Protection Analysis)
- QRA (Quantitative Risk Assessment)
- Advise on the application of local regulations, international standards, and best practices to promote inherently safe design.

The Team You’ll Join
The Process Engineering team operates across diverse areas, including electrode and cell assembly, FA&T (formation, ageing & testing), control & automation, manufacturing systems, digital manufacturing, process safety, and logistics engineering. Given the team’s early-stage growth, you’ll have the opportunity to helpshape processes, build capacity, and contribute to scaling up large-scale manufacturing from the ground up.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for candidates with:
- Proven process safety experience in a high-hazard or COMAH-regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of process safety legislation, codes of practice, and standards (e.g., DSEAR, pressure relief).
- Solid understanding and experience in hazard study methodologies.
- Working knowledge of QRA techniques, including consequence modelling and OBRA (objective risk matrix analysis).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and a fine attention to detail.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification.
