Commercial Procurement Manager – Defence Business Unit
We are seeking experienced Commercial Procurement Managers to join our Defence Business Unit.
You will play a key role in delivering pre-contract procurement activities and wider commercial responsibilities across major Defence programmes, including strategy development, tendering, evaluation, and contract formation.
About Mace
With over 400 colleagues delivering across the Defence Business Unit, Mace supports national security through:
- Infrastructure provision
- Commercial services
- Project delivery
Suitable candidates will:
- Hold, or be eligible to obtain, Security Check (SC) clearance
- Be flexible to work across London and the South West
- Have Defence sector experience (advantageous)
- Familiarity with NEC contracts is highly beneficial
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing commercial strategies, business cases, contract documentation, and tender packages
- Developing commercial strategies, preparing business cases, and producing contract and tender documentation
- Managing stakeholder relationships through formal contract execution
- Applying advanced knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations
- Championing a diverse, inclusive, and wellbeing-focused working environment
- Leading and managing commercial assignments and business areas
- Providing strategic direction aligned with client and project objectives
- Delivering MOD commercial lifecycle activities across all stages

Requirements
Experience in:
- Producing tender and contract documentation
- Developing commercial and procurement strategies
- Running end-to-end tender processes
- Managing NEC3/NEC4 or structured contract forms
- Creating commercial governance procedures, processes, and systems
- Using eSourcing/eEvaluation systems
- Leading multidisciplinary working teams
- Managing senior stakeholder relationships
Technical & professional needs:
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Professional membership or progression toward CIPS, CCM, or equivalent
- Willingness and eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
- Flexibility for national travel when required
