Procurement & Commercial Support Manager

About the Role
Position Title
Procurement & Commercial Support Manager
As Procurement & Commercial Support Manager, you’ll drive impact by improving supplier governance, commercial control, and cost transparency across site operations, maintenance activity, and shutdown-related work.
You’ll collaborate closely with site leadership, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, and SHEQ to ensure all supplier decisions are commercially sound, risk-aware, and well-documented, while keeping processes practical for a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site-level supplier governance, reviewing performance, capability, compliance, risk assessment, and value.
- Support supplier negotiations, framework agreements, benchmarking, and alternative sourcing whilst ensuring proactive risk-based decision making.
- Evaluate and challenge scopes, quotations, rate structures, labour hours, material charges, variations, and invoices.
- Provide procurement and commercial support for shutdowns, major maintenance activity, and high-value operational work.
- Introduce practical procurement processes, including:
- Approval routes
- Quote evaluations
- Change records
- Supplier performance measures
- Drive continuous improvement while ensuring procurement supports—rather than hinders—site operations’ productivity.

What We Expect from You: Key Requirements
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in procurement, commercial, contract, or supplier management within an industrial, operational, engineering, or maintenance environment.
- Strong understanding of labour-based contracts, cost-plus pricing, materials procurement, and maintenance or engineering operations.
- Experience in negotiating with suppliers and managing commercial agreements.
- Ability to review and challenge costs, invoices, scopes, commercial terms, and supporting documentation.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to build trust and challenge stakeholders collaboratively.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced operational environments.
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting plant shutdowns, major maintenance projects, or high-value operational activities.
- Background in engineering, technical professions, quantity surveying, or commercial operations.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Experience in regulated, high-risk environments such as industrial, environmental, or waste management.
