Procurement & Commercial Support Manager – Tradebe

What Will You Do? Make an Impact!

As Procurement & Commercial Support Manager, you will:

  • Support site operations by improving supplier governance, commercial control, and cost transparency across operational spend, maintenance, and shutdown work.
  • Collaborate closely with site leadership, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, and SHEQ to ensure supplier decisions are commercially sound, risk-aware, and well-documented—while keeping processes practical for a busy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading supplier governance:
    • Reviewing supplier performance, capability, compliance, risk, and value.
  • Supporting supplier negotiations:
    • Managing framework agreements, benchmarking, and alternative sourcing.
  • Scrutinising commercials:
    • Evaluating scopes, quotations, rate structures, labour hours, material charges, variations, and invoices.
  • Providing procurement support:
    • For shutdowns, major maintenance, and high-value operational work.
  • Introducing practical procurement processes:
    • Including approval routes, quote evaluations, change records, and performance measures.
  • Driving continuous improvement while ensuring procurement supports—not slows—operations.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in procurement, commercial, contract, or supplier management within an industrial, operational, engineering, or maintenance environment.
  • Technical understanding of:
    • Labour-based contracts, cost-plus pricing, materials procurement, and maintenance/engineering operations.
  • Negotiation skills with suppliers and experience managing commercial agreements.
  • Critical thinking abilities:
    • Reviewing and challenging costs, invoices, scopes, and commercial terms with robust validation.
  • Communication and collaboration strengths:
    • Ability to build trust and appropriately challenge across site teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced industrial environments.

Desirable Skills (But Not Essential)

  • Experience with plant shutdowns, major maintenance, or high-value operational projects.
  • A background in engineering, technical, quantity surveying, or commercial operations.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Work experience in regulated, high-risk, industrial, environmental, or waste management sectors.
