Procurement Manager - GCAP Sector (Edinburgh) | Leonardo UK
Salary: £70,000 - £78,000 Note: Salary reflects a grade-based framework with broad bands, subject to external market benchmarking and governance controls.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity arises for a Procurement Manager to join Leonardo’s Procurement and Commercial team in the GCAP sector, based in Edinburgh. In this strategic leadership role, you will:
- Lead and develop a team of procurement professionals, delivering value across the product lifecycle—from New Product Introduction (NPI) through early-stage development to full-rate production.
- Shape and enhance supply chain capability, drive supplier performance, negotiate and manage commercial agreements, and ensure alignment of capacity and capability with programme delivery.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives through:
- Effective procurement strategies
- Commercial excellence
- Supply chain resilience
As an independent contributor to the Senior Procurement Manager (GCAP), you will: ✔ Lead a high-performing procurement team ✔ Contribute to complex, strategically important programmes with precision and impact
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, develop, and motivate a team of procurement professionals to achieve operational and strategic procurement objectives.
- Foster a culture of performance-driven collaboration, ensuring adaptability to programme demands.
Strategic Procurement & Supply Chain
- Develop and implement procurement and supply chain strategies aligned with programme and business requirements.
- Lead strategic sourcing activities and construct detailed delivery plans.
Supplier Engagement & Relationship Management
- Manage supplier relationships to optimise performance, capability, quality, cost, and delivery outcomes.
- Drive supplier capacity and capability improvement initiatives to support programme growth and delivery commitments.

Commercial & Contract Excellence
- Lead commercial negotiations and contract management throughout the product lifecycle.
- Act as a trusted advisor, escalation point, and subject matter expert for complex procurement and commercial matters.
Collaboration & Risk Mitigation
- Collaborate with engineering, programme management, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to achieve business objectives.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, prioritising continuous improvement and resilience.
- Support organisational change initiatives and contribute to long-term strategic planning.
Requirements
Essential Experience
- Significant procurement, commercial, or supply chain management experience in a complex manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proven leadership experience, including the ability to:
- Develop and manage high-performing teams
- Direct exposure to the Aerospace and Defence sector.
- Strong contract management and commercial negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), product development, or early-lifecycle programmes.
Soft Skills
- Exceptional stakeholder management across all organisational levels.
- Ability to influence decisions and drive collaboration effectively.
Attitude
- While the above lists core requirements, Leonardo values forward-thinking attitude and a willingness to learn over rigidly matching all criteria.
Security Clearance
This role requires pre-employment screening under the UK Government’s:
- Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) (mandatory). Additionally, you may need ** Национальная Справочная Лицензия (NSV)**, including:
- Eligibility for Security Check (SC)
- Developed Vetting (DV)
