Procurement Manager
Procurement Manager (Water Industry) – Infrastructure Team
Murphy is recruiting for a Procurement Manager to join our growing Infrastructure team, as part of our workwinning (Bid) function.
Murphy operates as a delivery partner to leading water clients across the UK and Ireland, including:
- Thames Water
- Severn Trent
- Northern Ireland Water
- Yorkshire Water
- SES Water
- Bristol Water
- South East Water
- Uisce Éireann
We currently appoint over 25 facilities under full Design, Build, Operate, and Maintain (DBOM) contracts.
About the Role
A typical day for a Procurement Manager at Murphy involves:

Strategic Planning:
- Proposing the procurement strategy for the regional operating unit
- Developing the regional supply chain to align with demand

Sub-Contractor & Material Procurement (Work Winning):
- Supporting the Bid Leader with pre-construction procurement strategy and supply chain selection

Project Procurement (Construction Stage):
- Developing procurement schedules for the Project Leader
- Creating work package documents in collaboration with project teams
- Managing work package procurement, including producing and formalising sub-contracts
- Ensuring adherence to pre-negotiation formalities (contract bonds, warranties)
- Managing supply chain structure, performance reviews, and relationship management to optimise cost benefits

Supply Chain Leadership:
- Encouraging an efficient, productive, and continuously improving supply chain performance
- Aligning group procurement goals with regional objectives
- Ensuring consistent procurement approaches across all projects
- Applying robust negotiation processes to secure best-value engagements
- Ensuring contract protections are in place while delivering value-for-money

#### **Requirements**
To be considered, candidates should possess:
- **Detailed insider knowledge** of **work practices, processes, and procedures** from **pre-construction right through to construction execution**
- **CIPS Chartership** (or progress towards it)
- **Experience within a water framework** (preferred)
- **C3/C4 Knowledge** (understood worked within Construction contracts)
- A **strong supply chain networking presence** with **relevant sector experience**
- Comprehensive **product and supplier knowledge** relevant to the regional portfolio
- A **mature understanding of commercial contracts, strategic procurement, and competitive evaluation**
- Familiarity with **sustainable procurement practices**
