UK Purchasing Manager
Worksop | £55,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
Elevation Recruitment Group are exclusively supporting a well-established international manufacturing business in the search for an experienced UK Purchasing Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly successful engineering and manufacturing organisation in a strategic leadership role, taking responsibility for procurement across multiple UK operations while working closely with international group level colleagues and suppliers.
Based in Worksop, you'll lead purchasing activities across both direct and indirect spend, driving supplier performance, cost optimisation and continuous improvement while supporting wider business objectives.

This is a broad procurement leadership position with responsibility for developing and implementing purchasing strategy, strengthening supplier relationships and delivering commercial value across a diverse manufacturing operation.

Working within an international matrix environment, you'll partner with internal stakeholders across Supply Chain, Operations and Commercial functions to ensure procurement supports business performance while delivering improvements in quality, cost, delivery and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities of the UK Purchasing Manager:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategy in line with wider business objectives.
- Lead supplier negotiations, securing commercial agreements that deliver long-term value and security of supply.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, driving performance through structured reviews and effective governance.
- Oversee procurement across a range of direct manufacturing commodities within an engineering environment.
- Manage indirect procurement and capital expenditure, ensuring robust governance and cost control.
- Deliver supplier performance improvements across quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and working capital.
- Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Conduct make-versus-buy analysis and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) evaluations to support strategic sourcing decisions.
- Collaborate with international procurement colleagues to align local requirements with wider purchasing strategies.
- Lead, coach and develop the purchasing team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing policies, governance and best practice.

Requirements
We're looking for an experienced procurement professional who has operated within a manufacturing or engineering environment and enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on leadership.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain leadership within manufacturing.
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Experience managing direct manufacturing commodities.
- Knowledge of indirect procurement and CAPEX purchasing.
- A proven track record of delivering cost reduction and supplier performance improvements.
- Experience working within a matrix organisation, ideally supporting international operations.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong commercial awareness alongside a collaborative leadership style.
- Experience using ERP systems and procurement reporting tools.
