Procurement Price Analyst
Overview
MacTaggart Scott is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Procurement Price Analyst who thrives on problem-solving and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complexity while building effective relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
The role involves sourcing and pricing goods and services in line with the Procurement strategy, supporting major bids and contracts, and engaging with potential new suppliers. Additional responsibilities include conducting supplier and category analysis, ensuring compliance with company and customer requirements, supporting audits, and maintaining accurate data within our IFS system.
Initially, the successful candidate will work under close supervision to develop an understanding of defence procurement and company systems, with the aim of progressing to a more autonomous role over time.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Managing all assigned bid and pre-contract activities, ensuring timely resolution of enquiries
- Coordinating with Category and Project teams to support bid requirements, including stock and major subcontracts
- Assisting in the coordination and delivery of supplier onboarding activities
- Maintaining up-to-date supplier documentation, including financial, quality, and environmental certifications
- Proactively supporting the resolution of engineering requirements such as obsolescence, in collaboration with internal teams
- Ensuring accurate maintenance of costing data in the ERP system and proper recording of supplier quotations
- Developing and maintaining supplier relationships, seeking extended pricing validity and exploring innovative solutions to meet business needs
- Supporting the full procurement lifecycle—from need identification and sourcing (RFQs) to contract placement, management, and delivery
- Collaborating cross-functionally to address supply chain challenges, including quote compliance, sustainable sourcing, and cost efficiency
- Assisting in ensuring contractual terms align with customer requirements and flow-downs, minimising and managing risk to MTS
- Supporting the delivery of improved ESG outcomes through strategic sourcing activities
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance departmental performance

Essential Requirements
- Previous bid / estimating process experience
- Supply chain principles and techniques
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills (written, oral and presentation)
- Previous experience in use of ERP systems
- Competency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
- Be able to work positively and collaboratively with the wider stakeholder community, both internal and external.
- Good standard of general education / CIPS Level 3
- Be able to pro-actively and effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and deliver results
- Have self-discipline, motivation, the ability to organise your workload and overcome problems as they arise

Desirable Requirements
- Background in defence related procurement, in particular marine based products
- Use of Bills of Materials (BOM) and Product Requirements Document (PRD)
- Full membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS)
