About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Counsel to join our legal team in Hemel Hempstead. In this crucial role, you will provide expert legal advice and support for all procurement-related activities within our organization.

Draft, review and negotiate contracts for the global purchasing and supply chain operations, including production related procurement and procurement of services and IT systems (SaaS, Hardware).

Responsibilities

  • Support contracts management throughout the agreement term (claims, amendments, terminations).
  • Advise on and ensure compliance with company policy relating to suppliers.
  • Responsible for all procurement related agreements, including project specific subcontracts with flow downs from customer contracts.
  • Provide risk analysis and appropriate risk reduction strategies.
  • Develop standard templates and best practices playbook for the procurement team.
  • Conduct compliance assessments of suppliers with respect to ethical business practices and compliance with anti-bribery and modern slavery legislation.
  • Act as primary point of contact for data protection matters.
  • Implement the company’s supply chain ethics policy.
  • Interface with outside counsel, as well as internal staff and corporate management.
  • Participate in preparing and conducting training programs.

Qualifications

  • Law degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience; in-house legal department experience a plus.
  • Prior transactional experience, including the ability to draft and review contract terms and conditions.
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements relating to supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, EU procurement laws, and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience in drafting complex contracts.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; listening and influencing.
  • Good relationship building in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills; big-picture oriented but able to focus on the details also.
  • German speaking a real plus.
