The Position
This role is based in the Global Procurement function, which supports Roche’s goal of bringing innovative solutions to patients through business and supplier partnerships. We act as the bridge between Roche business functions and our suppliers, delivering value through productivity, speed, risk management, sustainability, innovative solutions, and streamlined buying experiences.
As the Procurement Solutions Manager (AI), you will be part of Digital Procurement Solutions & Excellence. Our purpose is to advance value delivery through digital solutions & excellence, with Digital & AI augmenting and amplifying our capacity and capability to magnify outcomes, eventually delivering greater impact per person and a better procurement experience.
Reporting to the Procurement AI Solutions Lead, your primary responsibility is to design, build, test, and deploy AI agents and agentic workflows that transform procurement processes. Leveraging your specialized knowledge and expertise, you will work hands-on with Generative AI, workflow orchestration platforms, MCPs, enterprise systems, and internal data sources to deliver production-ready AI solutions. You will proactively help Global Procurement improve productivity, speed, user experience, quality, and decision-making across the procurement ecosystem.
You will work closely with Procurement SMEs, internal AI solution engineers, Digital peers, IT, Analytics & Insights, and external partners to move high-value ideas from opportunity framing into robust solution concepts, pilots, and scalable implementations. You will bridge strategic AI priorities and the practical realities of building reliable, enterprise-ready solutions in a complex global procurement environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Procurement Solutions Manager (AI), you will play a pivotal role according to your experience, knowledge, and strategic business/team requirements, including but not limited to:
- AI Solution Discovery & Design: Partner with procurement teams to identify, structure, and validate high-impact automation and AI use cases. Translate business needs, process complexity, policy requirements, data realities, and user experience considerations into clear solution designs.
- Workflow & Agent Design: Design and build intelligent workflow logic for procurement use cases, combining AI capabilities, business rules, MCP and API integrations, data checks, human-in-the-loop steps, and measurable quality controls. Independently build, configure and embed AI agents into existing procurement systems and processes to automate end-to-end tasks.
- Rapid Prototyping: Build and test initial proofs-of-concept (PoCs) using workflow automation tools (e.g., n8n, Zapier) and internal data sources to validate value quickly before full-scale engineering. Translate learnings into actionable specifications for internal teams, external partners, and solution engineers.
- Solution Evaluation & Observability: Utilize enterprise LLM observability and evaluation tools to monitor agent behavior, track accuracy, analyze failure modes, and systematically iterate on prompts and workflow logic to ensure production-grade reliability.
- Build & Delivery Orchestration: Act as product/solution owner from discovery to scalable rollout. Manage scope, timelines, dependencies, value hypotheses, success metrics, risks, and stakeholder expectations in a complex matrix environment.
- Enterprise-Ready Solution Thinking: Collaborate with Digital Governance & Management, IT, Compliance, Business Process Management, and Analytics & Insights to ensure AI solutions are designed with scalability, auditability, reliability, data protection, and operational handover in mind.
- Technology & Partner Advisory: Support tool and vendor assessments and contribute to build-vs-buy-vs-self-service decisions with a pragmatic understanding of technical feasibility and business value.
- Business Translation & Communication: Act as the trusted bridge between procurement experts, AI engineers, and governance teams. Translate technical progress, evaluation results, value potential and risks into clear, decision-ready narratives for senior stakeholders to ensure builds remain anchored to real procurement outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
