Procurement Specialist, NFP PEOPLE

Procurement Specialist

Salary: £45,000 per annum Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract Location: Hybrid working / Bedford Hours: Full-time Closing Date: Applications reviewed on a rolling basis

About the Role

We are seeking a commercially minded Procurement Specialist to drive compliant, value-focused procurement activity and deliver insightful data-led decision-making.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this is an exciting opportunity to:

  • Support delivery of procurement exercises
  • Provide expert commercial guidance
  • Strengthen governance, compliance, and value-for-money outcomes

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting end-to-end procurement exercises, including:

    • Tendering, evaluation, contract award, and mobilisation
  • Ensuring procurement activity complies with:

    • Relevant legislation
    • Internal policies
    • Best practice
  • Analysing and presenting data insights on:

    • Spend
    • Contracts
    • Supplier performance
    • Compliance
  • Developing and maintaining:

    • Procurement reporting tools
    • Dashboards for stakeholders
    • Assurance information

  • Supporting value-for-money initiatives and embedding social value in procurement.

  • Managing:

    • Contract registers
    • Contract renewals
  • Conducting:

    • Supplier due diligence
    • Risk management
    • Contract performance monitoring
  • Providing practical procurement advice across the organisation.

About You

We are looking for a proactive, analytical procurement professional with experience in regulated environments such as the public sector, housing, or similar governance. Required qualifications include:

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in procurement or commercial roles
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills with the ability to:
    • Interpret complex data
    • Present findings clearly
  • Knowledge of procurement governance and regulatory requirements, preferably including awareness of:
    • Procurement Act 2023 (advantageous)
  • Experience supporting procurement exercises from:
    • Planning stage to award
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities

Qualifications Beneficial
