Company Description
About us
Hello, we’re Reach. Every day, our trusted news, stories and content connect with millions of people where they live - whether that’s on their social feed or at their neighbourhood newsstand; through their local community or their take on the hot topic of the day.
We're home to more than 120 brands - from household names like the Mirror, Express, Daily Star and Daily Record, to local titles like MyLondon, BelfastLive, and the Manchester Evening News, and brands making a splash in the US like the Irish Star.
It's our ability to understand people and the things that matter to them that makes us Britain and Ireland's largest commercial news publisher. We reach around 70% of the UK's online population, 10% of the US online population, and over 100 million social followers around the world, connecting with them on who they are, where they live and what they love.
Your story, with Reach

We’ll help you build a career that works with your life, while giving you the space to create and grow.
Job Description
About the role
You will lead a small team of video producers creating compelling, platform-first social news content. As a leader, you will be responsible for setting creative standards, developing talent and building a culture of originality, collaboration and high performance.
We're looking for someone who understands that succeeding on social isn't about simply repurposing news stories. It's about finding fresh ways to tell them. You'll constantly be developing original formats, spotting emerging trends and encouraging your team to experiment with new ideas that make audiences stop scrolling.
You'll be a confident editorial voice within the newsroom, challenging conventional thinking where appropriate and championing best practice in video storytelling across the business. You'll be comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-moving news environment while maintaining the highest editorial and legal standards.
Alongside leading the team, you'll remain hands-on when needed, filming, presenting and producing content yourself, while using analytics, audience insights and competitor analysis to continually improve performance across our social channels.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
This is a hybrid role working 3 - 4 days per week from our Canary Wharf hub. The role will require weekend work and potentially flexible hours during the week, this will be discussed at interview stage.
Qualifications
You'll have significant experience creating successful social-first video content, supported by a strong portfolio of work that demonstrates creativity, originality and a genuine understanding of what performs across platforms. We're looking for someone who can demonstrate a track record of growing social audiences through original thinking, not simply reacting to the news agenda.
You'll be an experienced people manager with the confidence to lead, motivate and develop a team. You'll enjoy coaching others, giving constructive feedback and raising editorial and creative standards across the newsroom.
An NCTJ or BJTC qualification, alongside experience working in a breaking news environment, is essential, as is a thorough understanding of UK media law and the confidence to make sound editorial decisions under pressure.
You'll have an advanced understanding of Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts and X, with proven experience developing platform-specific video strategies that grow audiences and drive commercial performance. Your primary objective will be to create and oversee repeatable social formats that deliver measurable growth and revenue.
You should be highly competent shooting on both smartphones and DSLR cameras, editing in Premiere Pro (or equivalent), presenting to camera and recording voiceovers. Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable training others and helping colleagues improve their own on-camera confidence and storytelling.
