Product Compliance Engineer

Oldham (Hybrid – 3 days in the office / 2 days from home)
Salary: Up to £60,000 DOE

Are you an engineer or technically minded professional who enjoys solving complex problems, analysing technical information and making sure products are safe, compliant and fit for market?

We're looking for a Product Compliance Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing products used in safety-critical industrial environments. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge with analytical thinking and wants to play a key role in bringing world-class products to market.

The Role

As a Product Compliance Engineer, you'll work closely with Research & Development teams to ensure products meet international safety and compliance standards throughout the design process.

You'll become the technical expert for product approvals, helping engineers navigate complex regulations while working with certification bodies across Europe and internationally.

This is a varied role that combines engineering, problem-solving, technical documentation and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review new product designs against international safety and compliance standards.
  • Interpret technical regulations and identify the standards applicable to new products.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure compliance is considered throughout product development.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation required for certification.
  • Liaise with external certification and approval bodies throughout the approval process.
  • Manage product approvals including ATEX, IECEx and electrical safety certifications.
  • Monitor changes to international standards and ensure existing products remain compliant.
  • Support technical discussions and negotiations with certification authorities and inspection bodies.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A degree in Engineering, Physics, Science or another analytical discipline.
  • A solid understanding of engineering or electronic principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A structured and organised approach to documentation.
  • Confidence working with technical standards and regulations (or a genuine interest in learning).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
