Job Description

Product Compliance Manager - Buying

Job Summary

The Product Compliance Team partners with the European business to manage and improve product safety and compliance. As part of the management team you will design, develop and implement strategies to support the business to minimise product related risk and protect the safety of our customers.

Through partnering with internal and external stakeholders you will provide high-level advice, drive required compliance changes and support the business through regulatory change and challenges, proactively supporting the business to minimise risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the Product Compliance strategy, addressing both short- and medium-term priorities in the market and at TJX
  • Establish and deepen relationships with key stakeholders, enhancing the organisation’s ability to understand and comply with trading regulations and safety standards
  • Unlock trading opportunities and support the growth of the business by providing expert advice and strategies to deal with regulations and risk
  • Partner with key functional stakeholders to understand wider business challenges and convey needs/expectations for compliance
  • Agree standards with the business to ensure we learn, improve and manage risk
  • Manage budgets and ensure continuous improvement strategies are delivered to reduce cost, improve impact and design out inefficiency
  • Coach, mentor and develop the Product Compliance team building expertise, skills and experience necessary to support the business
  • Actively promote and role model our leadership competencies and cultural factors
  • Develop and maintain a Product Compliance Buying strategy which ensures Buyers and Vendors get the support they require when they require it
  • Responsible for providing technical product compliance support to Buyers and Vendors to improve compliance and manage risks
  • Own and manage internal relationships with Buying, Product Development and Buying Support
  • Partner with Buying Managers to understand current and future product mixes, compliance issues and support required
  • Manage a team of Subject Matter Experts to respond to all compliance queries from Buying and provide training and education where required
  • Agree and monitor risk appetite, driving changes within Buying where required while maintaining commercial awareness
