Design. Innovate. Make an Impact.

Are you passionate about turning ideas into practical, innovative products? Do you enjoy combining creativity, engineering principles, and problem-solving to develop solutions that make a real difference?

Manthorpe Building Products is looking for a Product Designer to join our Product Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design, development, and continuous improvement of innovative construction products used across the UK building industry.

Working closely with our Development, Sales, and Production teams, you'll play a key role in bringing new products to market while enhancing and supporting our existing product range.

About the Role

As a Product Designer, you'll be involved throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from identifying opportunities and generating concepts to testing, manufacturing, and product launch. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching market trends, industry developments, and customer requirements to identify opportunities for new products and product improvements.
  • Creating design briefs and technical specifications to support product development projects.
  • Producing concept designs using sketching, modelling, CAD, and rapid prototyping techniques.
  • Developing concepts into commercially viable products through the selection of suitable materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Creating and maintaining technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Testing and evaluating prototypes and finished products to ensure compliance with relevant standards and performance requirements.
  • Producing technical literature, installation guides, and supporting documentation.
  • Providing technical support and product expertise across the wider business.
  • Supporting manufacturing improvement initiatives through research, analysis, and practical problem-solving.
  • Working collaboratively with production, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement projects that enhance quality, efficiency, sustainability, and safety.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
