Product Designer
Department: Tech - Product Employment Type: Full Time Location: Zinc – London Reporting To: Thomas Moore Compensation: £59,000 – £72,000 / year
About the Role
Design is central to Zinc’s mission to help organisations build trust and transparency, and we’re expanding our team to match our ambitions. 💥
Why We’re Hiring
- We have more strategic work than capacity, holding back some of our best ideas.
- This role is a new strategic seat designed to lead discovery and execution, not just maintain the status quo.
- Top priority: A long-overdue rethink of the candidate experience—one of our biggest opportunities for impact.
How You’ll Work
- You’ll collaborate closely with Product & Engineering as a true partner. 🤝
- At Zinc, designers don’t just polish decisions—you help define the problem, shape solutions, and see them through.
Role Summary
- Lead strategic projects end-to-end, shaping Zinc’s future.
- Embrace ambiguity—your job is to bring clarity, not just follow instructions.
- Foundational work: This isn’t incremental polish; it’s impactful, game-changing design.
- Full-cycle ownership: Research → Discovery → Prototyping → Shipped product.
- Drive outcomes that move the business forward.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Leadership & Ownership
- Lead end-to-end design projects from discovery and research to final UI and handoff.
- Break down complex, ambiguous problem spaces into clear, actionable design plans.
- Champion user-centred thinking—plan and execute research (interviews, testing), validate hypotheses, and advocate for user needs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
