Product Designer
We’re looking for a Product Designer to help shape the next generation of our financial guidance and investing experiences. You’ll be embedded in one of our Product squads, leading Design from discovery through to delivery to craft intuitive, human-centred experiences that make complex financial decisions feel simple and delightful.
About Octopus Money
At Octopus Money, we’re on a mission to make financial planning and investing accessible to all.
The facts are alarming: half of Brits reach retirement age without enough money to live the life they want, financial stress is a leading cause of poor mental health, and only 8% of us have access to 1-to-1 advice. There’s plenty of information out there, but many of us just don’t know where to start.
At Octopus Money, we bring friendly, human coaching together with empowering technology to create personalised plans that help you understand the actions you could take. Then, we make it easy to invest in a portfolio managed by experts.
The role and opportunity
You’ll collaborate closely with your fellow designer, product managers, engineers, and financial experts to turn insights into scalable design solutions that drive positive outcomes for our customers and our business. This is a chance to join a small, high-impact team where your ideas will directly influence how thousands of people feel about their money.
Day to day you will be:
- Embedded in our engagement and planning squad. With opportunities to work on both mobile app and web, you’ll be owning the end-to-end experience from discovery through to hi-fi design and iterating based on user feedback
- Translating user research, data insights and business goals into elegant, usable design solutions
- Prototyping, user testing, and refining concepts quickly to validate ideas early
- Collaborating cross-functionally with PMs and engineers to shape our digital product
- Using generative AI intentionally and intelligently to augment and accelerate problem analysis, ideation and prototyping
- Actively contributing to Ink design system - evolving components, patterns, and documentation to drive quality and consistency
- Helping raise the design bar through attention to UI craft and usability

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
