Product Development Analyst, Energy Trading

Energy/Commodity Trading Professional – New Product Implementation Lead

Our client is a very successful and dynamic European Energy Trading business. As part of their team, you will play a key role in developing innovative energy products and driving renewable energy solutions.

We are seeking an experienced Energy/Commodity trading professional to join their trading function. This role will require a deep understanding of deal lifecycle processes, market frameworks, and regulatory requirements in energy trading, with a focus on leading and supporting the implementation and updates of new products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the implementation of new product developments, coordinating requirements with Trading, Risk, Operations, IT, and supporting functions
  • Drive commercial prioritisation in collaboration with Front Office, structuring and evaluating new product requests from an expanding pipeline
  • Manage Single Deal Approvals (SDAs), ensuring timely processing and tactical execution
  • Guide the implementation roadmap, balancing multiple initiatives and deadlines in an agile trading environment
  • Empower commercial teams by delivering pragmatic solutions and support for new business activities and ad-hoc requests

Required Skills & Experience

Education & Background

  • A University degree in Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commodity trading, preferably in commercial, middle office, or operations roles

In-Depth Knowledge

  • Strong grasp of deal lifecycle, market processes, and regulatory frameworks in energy trading
  • Familiarity with ETRM (Energy Trading & Risk Management) systems, data flows, and market platforms
  • Understanding of complex system architectures within trading environments

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex multi-stakeholder dynamics
  • Fluent in English (absolute requirement); fluency in German or additional languages is advantageous
