Product Development Chemist
Product Development Chemist – Derbyshire
Kinetic is partnering with a leading Chemical Manufacturing company to recruit a Product Development Chemist for their team.
Key Aspects of the Role
- Deliver product development tasks and projects on time, to agreed standards and budgets.
- Maintain accurate records of testing, research, and development activities.
- Manage weekly laboratory work plans across the product portfolio.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret data for project reporting.
- Support the transfer of products from laboratory to production, including troubleshooting issues.
- Collaborate with Quality on specifications, production concerns, non-conformances, and complaint investigations.
- Create and maintain material codes within the ERP system.
- Provide support and cover for the Senior Product Development Chemist when required.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, including Sales, Engineering, Production, and Quality.
- Monitor legislative changes, market trends, and sector developments to identify innovation opportunities.
- Contribute ideas, recommendations, and continuous improvement initiatives to advance product development.
- Develop strong technical expertise in formulations, commercial applications, and the broader product range.
- Assist with the day-to-day running of the R&D laboratory, ensuring compliance with quality, health & safety, hygiene, and equipment maintenance standards.

Requirements
Candidates must possess:
- Degree level (or higher) in Chemistry (or an equivalent qualification).
- Experience in a manufacturing business, specialising in polymer chemistry (specifically 2-component polymers) for the civil engineering and adhesives market.
- Proven experience in a commercial laboratory, with proficiency in various testing techniques.
- (Note: Project management experience is advantageous but not mandatory.)
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and database systems.
- Detail-oriented, analytical approach, with excellent problem-solving, documentation, and report-writing abilities.
- A proactive mindset, driven by continuous learning and professional development.
