About the Role
KLA Instruments is seeking a Product Development Engineer specialising in optics and optical metrology to develop next-generation inspection and metrology tools for scientific and semiconductor manufacturing.

This role requires: ✔ Requirement analysis, design, and testing of complex opto-mechanical systems ✔ Leadership in subsystem integration, testing, and validation, supporting projects from conception to mass production ✔ Strong technical communication, bridging gaps between R&D, engineering, and customers

Key Responsibilities
System & Product Development
- Collaborate with marketing & engineering teams to define system architecture
- Work with technical, functional groups to debug issues and propose solutions
- Design, develop, and test opto-mechanical systems, ensuring precision and reliability
Problem-Solving & Risk Management
- Identify programmatic/technical risks and execute mitigation strategies
- Write comprehensive test plans to verify system performance
- Provide troubleshooting, support & troubleshooting for NPI (New Product Introduction) and escalations
Customer Engagement
- Train internal/external customers on process optimisation and tool performance
- Take ownership of training materials and collaborate on workflow improvements
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering or physical sciences (or Bachelor’s + related work experience)
- Or a professional qualification (equivalent in experience/knowledge)
Desired Profile
We’re looking for engineers with:
- Strong technical/analytical skills, underpinned by a proven track record of solving engineering problems
- Deep expertise in:
- Optics, optical metrology, opto-mechanics
- Motion control systems (mechanical/electromechanical dynamics)
- Familiarity with:
- Scientific statistical tools (MATLAB, JMP)
- Scripting languages (Python, LabVIEW)* Program modules/Technical parameters development
- A practical understanding of:
- Ellipsometry, Interferometry, microscopy, imaging analysis
