As our digital publishing business continues to evolve, we're looking for someone who can take ownership of our digital products and advertising operations. Working across multiple teams, you'll play a key role in improving our platforms, delivering new functionality and ensuring our digital products continue to meet the needs of both our audiences and our business.
We are seeking a highly organised and commercially minded Product & Digital Operations Manager to join the Publishing Operations team at Total Politics, reporting to the Chief Publishing Officer.
This is a cross-functional, hands-on role sitting at the intersection of product, technology, operations and commercial delivery. You'll own the roadmap for the ongoing development and optimisation of our digital products while ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of our advertising technology and delivery. You'll work closely with editorial, commercial, subscriptions and external technology partners to deliver best-in-class digital experiences that drive audience engagement and maximise revenue opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Product Management & Development
- Own the digital product roadmap across websites and other digital platforms.
- Use audience insight and analytics to identify user needs and product opportunities.
- Define KPIs and success measures for new product initiatives.
- Translate business requirements into product briefs, wireframes and technical specifications.
- Scope, prioritise and project-manage product developments from concept through to delivery.
- Ensure all new developments are aligned with clear business objectives and ROI expectations.
Technology Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for third-party technology providers, including CMS and advertising technology partners.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure effective delivery, service quality and accountability.
- Monitor technology costs and resource usage, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and cost optimisation.
- Escalate technical issues and coordinate resolution with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Advertising Operations & Monetisation
- Oversee the day-to-day digital advertising operations across all owned platforms.
- Ensure campaigns are delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with client expectations.
- Work closely with commercial teams to optimise ad inventory, yield and revenue opportunities.
- Develop and improve advertising processes, workflows and service standards.
- Identify new monetisation opportunities across display and emerging digital formats.
Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Develop dashboards and reporting that provide insight into product performance, advertising revenue and operational efficiency.
- Analyse trends and identify opportunities to improve monetisation, user experience and operational efficiency.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders to inform product and commercial decisions.
Team Management
- Line manage and support the Digital Operations & AdOps Executive.
- Build a high-performing, resilient digital operations function through clear processes, documentation and continuous improvement.
- Build resilient operational workflows that maintain service quality during annual leave or unexpected absence.
- Support capability development and continuous improvement within the team.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key liaison between editorial, commercial and technical teams.
- Communicate project progress, risks and priorities clearly and in a timely manner.
- Balance competing priorities while maintaining strong relationships across departments.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
- 5+ years’ experience in digital product management, ad operations, digital publishing or AdTech.
- Strong understanding of digital advertising ecosystems, including display inventory and ad serving.
- Experience working with CMS platforms and third-party technology vendors.
- Proven experience delivering digital product improvements or launches.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- Experience in publishing, media or content-led businesses.
- Experience with Google Ad Manager (GAM) and GA4.
- Experience creating product requirement documents, wireframes and user journeys.
- Commercially minded and data-driven.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented.
- Strong communicator and relationship builder.
- Proactive problem solver.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
