Product Director – Formula 1 at Fanatics

The Role

The Product Director of Formula 1 spearheads the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for Fanatics Collectibles’ global F1 portfolio, including trading cards, stickers, memorabilia, and next-gen collectibles.

This is a high-impact leadership role that integrates deep product expertise, partnership management, and fan engagement to drive innovation, deliver market-leading experiences, and grow F1’s global collectibles business.

The ideal candidate has strong people leadership skills, a strategic mind, and a keen understanding of sports culture, licensing, and consumer product trends.


Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the multi-year product roadmap for the entire F1 collectibles portfolio.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a product team—elevating thinking, execution, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by pushing boundaries in designs, materials, technology, and fan experiences.
  • Drive organizational alignment through clear communication, storytelling, and data-driven decision-making.

Innovation & Category Growth

  • Identify emerging trends in fan engagement, technology, and product formats to shape next-gen F1 collectibles.
  • Explore new digital, experiential, premium, and exclusive product categories.
  • Integrate F1 storytelling (drivers, teams, races, history) into product narratives.
  • Leverage Fanatics’ broader ecosystem (apparel, hardgoods, events) to cross-pollinate innovation.

Licensing, Partnerships & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the senior product liaison to F1 and its ecosystem (teams, drivers, promoters, agencies).
  • Build strategic relationships with executives, negotiating rights, approvals, and innovation opportunities.
  • Unlock new partnerships by expanding north-south integration across teams, drivers, tech providers, and global markets.
  • Ensure all licensing aligns with strategic goals, profitability, and future expansion.

Product Development & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee end-to-end product development, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, high-quality execution.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, design, and supply chain to uphold feasibility, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Guide autograph, relic, and memorabilia strategy—balancing value, authenticity, and differentiation.
  • Maintain brand compliance, safety standards, and global regulatory adherence.

Go-To-Market, Insights & Performance

  • Lead quarterly business reviews with executive stakeholders (roadmap progress, performance, opportunities).
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and e-commerce to drive revenue, distribution, and product storytelling.
  • Analyze consumer insights, market data, and retailer feedback to inform product decisions.
  • Monitor KPIs, demand forecasts, and P&L to maximize profitability and long-term sustainability.

Required Knowledge & Competencies

  • Deep expertise in licensing models, consumer product economics, and global collectibles trends.
  • First-class knowledge of Formula 1—fan culture, teams, driver dynamics, season calendar, and commercial ecosystem.
  • Proven leadership with experience coaching teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Executive presence and ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity and persuasion.
  • Ability to combine strategic vision with pragmatic execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative problem-solving paired with high operational discipline and meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years’ product management experience, ideally in consumer products, licensing, entertainment, or sports.
  • Proven track record leading product teams and managing global stakeholders.
  • Background developing physical products (collectibles experience is a must).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field; an MBA is a plus.
  • Passionate about Formula 1 and global motorsports.
