Product Engineer, AI (Backend)

Our partner is seeking a Product Engineer, AI based in the United Kingdom.


About the Role

Join a fast-growing engineering team building next-generation AI-powered workflow solutions that simplify automation at scale. In this role, you'll:

  • Design and deliver end-to-end AI features, transforming concepts into production-ready capabilities.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to prototype, iterate, and launch impactful features quickly.
  • Bridge backend and frontend development, ensuring seamless AI integrations in modern software platforms.
  • Work in a remote-first, collaborative environment, shaping the future of AI and large language model (LLM) integration.

This is a chance to own technical direction, drive user-facing innovations, and scale AI workflows in a growth-focused company.


Key Accountabilities

  • Design and build AI-powered product features across backend services and frontend interfaces.
  • Rapidly prototype AI agent use cases and validate ideas through iterative development.
  • Develop intuitive, reusable AI blueprints and real-world examples to simplify adoption.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to scale solutions and ensure reliability.
  • Backend development expertise in Java, with support for frontend languages, frameworks, and cloud technologies.
  • Optimise AI workflows for performance, usability, and reliability.
  • Engage in technical discussions, architecture decisions, and product improvements.
  • Stay ahead of trends in AI, cloud, and full-stack development to enhance capabilities.

Preferred Experience & Expertise

  • Full-stack engineering discipline, with a deep background in Java backend.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and scaling AI applications.
  • Expertise in AI agents, LLMs, generative AI, and modern AI workflows.
  • Bonus points for frontend frameworks (React, Angular, etc.) and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps tools.
  • Ability to balance speed with maintainability, ensuring quality at scale.
  • Comfortable in a remote, collaborative team environment.
  • Passion for innovation in AI-driven automation and workflow tools.
