We are seeking a Software Engineer Senior Consultant I with strong Java full-stack development experience to modernize enterprise applications with intelligent automation and agentic capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and enterprise-scale systems that support critical business capabilities.
The role contributes across design, development, quality engineering, and delivery, with a strong focus on application reliability, production support, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will bring strong front-end development skills, solid SQL expertise, hands-on Python experience, and the ability to integrate AI/ML capabilities into enterprise systems.
Key responsibilities
- Enhance and modernize existing Java-based web applications, ensuring stability, scalability, usability, and long-term maintainability.
- Improve front-end components using modern JavaScript frameworks, such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data access, reporting, and performance tuning.
- Refactor legacy code and implement best practices for maintainability and performance.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and delivery practices.
- Share knowledge and contribute to the overall technical growth of the team.
- Participate in product design discussions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering problems.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical audiences.
- Drive code quality through unit testing, code reviews, engineering standards, and maintainable design practices.
- Take accountability for production support by investigating and resolving incidents, leading root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and reducing repeat issues.
- Proactively monitor application health, performance, and reliability using tools such as Datadog or equivalent.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
