Product Engineering Manager

Product Engineering Manager | Reading | Contract-to-Perm | Inside IR35

Location: Reading (Hybrid, 1-2 days/week in office) Contract: 3 months initially, converting to permanent Rate: Open, DOE | Inside IR35

We're hiring on behalf of a growing consultancy based in Reading, looking for a hands-on Product Engineering Manager to lead day-to-day engineering delivery across their Innovation platform.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading engineering delivery, including DevOps, testing, analytics, and platform reliability
  • Managing third-party and offshore development teams (India-based)
  • Owning infrastructure oversight: capacity planning, priorities, continuous improvement
  • Bringing AI tooling into the team to support governance and increase capacity
  • Line managing 3-4 direct reports within a wider team of 10
  • Contributing to budget planning and risk management

What we're looking for:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure, DevOps, and Power Platform
  • Experience managing third-party/offshore development teams
  • Solid infrastructure background, not just theory
  • AI experience beyond just using it, ideally governance and controlled implementation
  • A player-coach mentality, still close to the technical detail, not purely strategic
