Overview

Our client, a major organisation within the automotive sector, is seeking an experienced Automotive Product Manager to oversee a key vehicle range throughout its lifecycle.

Reporting to the Product Marketing Manager, you will take responsibility for product pricing, specification, sales mix and profitability within the UK market. You will manage activity from launch planning through to lifecycle changes, ensuring that products are positioned competitively, accurately configured and supported by correct product information.

This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced and commercially focused product planning team during a significant period of change within the automotive industry. The role offers broad stakeholder exposure and the chance to influence product performance, market positioning and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a key vehicle product range throughout its full lifecycle.
  • Analyse market, sales and financial data to support product planning decisions.
  • Ensure product prices, specifications, option mixes and profitability are aligned with UK market requirements.
  • Maintain accurate product setup within ordering and configuration systems.
  • Review and approve product literature to ensure information is complete and accurate.
  • Lead launch planning for new models, derivatives and product updates.
  • Manage model-year changes and wider product lifecycle activity.
  • Monitor competitor pricing, specifications, positioning and market activity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales performance and product profitability.
  • Produce recommendations based on commercial, customer and competitor insight.
  • Work closely with management, marketing, communications, sales and operational teams.
  • Build effective relationships with international manufacturing and product stakeholders.
  • Coordinate product-related projects, processes, actions and deadlines.
  • Influence stakeholders at all levels to support effective product decisions and delivery.

Requirements

Essential

  • Strong understanding of automotive product management or product planning.
  • Good commercial acumen and awareness of market and competitor dynamics.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and confidence working with complex product information.
  • Experience using data to support commercial recommendations and decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • The ability to influence and engage stakeholders at different levels of seniority.
  • A process-oriented approach to managing work and resolving issues.
  • Project management experience, including coordinating multiple actions and deadlines.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience managing automotive products through launch and lifecycle stages.
  • Experience with vehicle pricing, specification, ordering or configuration systems.
  • Knowledge of product profitability, sales mix and option planning.
  • Experience conducting competitor benchmarking and market analysis.
  • Exposure to premium, passenger vehicle or mobility brands.
  • Experience working with international manufacturing or head-office teams.
