JOB PURPOSE & SCOPE

Working as part of the regional healthcare product management team to maximize growth and profitability potential for the medical porous webs and stretch films portfolio, through the development of robust product strategies and tactical plans as well as providing guidance on the product (value) pricing strategy and positioning, product related competitive intelligence, product life cycle and portfolio innovation

This may include actively driving investment plans, innovation business cases or portfolio consolidation initiatives and therefore strategic and structure thinking as well as technical, commercial and project management capabilities are critical to succeed.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a growing scope of ca. 100+m Euros with high degree of product complexity and customization to customer needs

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and review product portfolio strategy, including its manufacturing strategy, and innovation roadmaps based on segment needs and Amcor ability to win in the desire spaces
  • Partner with BU Marketing, R&D and other relevant stakeholders to manage product lifecycle. This may include activities such as new products and services launches, consolidating or replacing specifications, and the phasing-out of obsolete product lines.
  • Monitor sales and profitability of the product line, providing inputs for the budgeting and strategic plan process, as well as, driving (value-based) pricing policies and product related profitability improvement initiatives
  • Manage cross-functional teams and projects to ensure timely and effective execution of product related projects (i.e., new product launches; innovation pipeline; product changes)
  • Develop IP strategy for the assigned product line, anticipating patent expirations and monitoring competitive landscape for potential threats or infringements
  • Engage directly with key customers, in support of the sales team to develop new business, build relationships in both technical and product related commercial aspects.
  • Provide efficient product specific support, tools and training for the Sales & Customer Service teams to ensure selling efficiency. This includes the preparation of product value propositions, technical packs and value pricing guidance among others
  • Provide guidance in product selection and be the first point of contact as technical advisor to customers and the sales team to match their needs with the most relevant available solutions or innovations
  • Partner and actively engage with machine manufacturers, industry associations and other external stakeholders to gather competitive intelligence and identification of potential unmet needs

MAJOR CHALLENGES & COMPLEXITIES

The role requires to lead and work in cross functional teams across cultures and locations within a highly matrixed internal environment. The ability to influence and drive the agenda without authority is key to succeed, both towards peers and senior stakeholders. Ensure long-term strategic outcomes are achieved through a solid & structured strategic process and diligent execution, while managing the short-term needs of the business. Given the complexity of the portfolio, the ability to effectively communicate technical aspects to lay audience while balancing technical rigor, managing complexity and having robust project management skills is critical to success.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

1. Formal Qualifications And Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product management and/or in technical roles within the packaging industry, ideally with exposure to customers and commercial organizations
  • Previous exposure and strong understanding of medical devices regulatory affairs and packaging
  • Proven experience leading project and navigating matrixial organizations.
  • Excellent project management skills, with proven experience
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences or related fields
  • Good understanding of economic & marketing principles, particularly related to medical packaging
  • Previous exposure to thermoformed trays as product manager or in a technical role with customer exposure is a strong plus

  • Structured problem solver, able to bring along other stakeholder through the process
  • Goal oriented, able to prioritize, systematically develop and execute actionable plans
