Product Manager – The Citation Group Location: Hybrid – Wilmslow (2–3 days per week in office)
About Us At Citation, we offer something unique for both our colleagues and clients – an opportunity to grow, thrive, and succeed like nowhere else. As we celebrate 30 years of excellence, our focus remains on growth, investment, and service quality. We're one of the UK's biggest providers of HR, Employment Law, Health & Safety, and ISO services. But what really sets us apart is our people. At Citation, we bring our personalities to work, not just our expertise. With year-on-year double-digit growth, this is your chance to join a fast-moving business that values vision, determination, agility, and a knack for building great relationships. We've built our success without cutting costs or creating bureaucracy. Instead, we prioritise actions over politics, empowerment over micro-management, and innovation over hierarchy. We are leaders who love what we do – and we want you to share in that passion.
About the Role Our product vision is simple but ambitious: build better businesses by helping SMEs grow, enabling their people, and protecting their assets. Our goal is not just to support our clients, but to become a core part of how they run – embedding our tools and services into their day-to-day. As Product Manager for Atlas, you will take full ownership of the Atlas platform for Citation UK, shaping the product strategy and roadmap while driving tactical delivery across our HR and Employment Law product area. You will work closely with Engineering, UX, Commercial, and wider Product colleagues to deliver impactful solutions that improve client outcomes and support the growth of Citation UK.
Responsibilities Strategy & Discovery • Work with your Product Leader to define clear goals and outcomes for the initiatives you own, aligned to the wider product strategy and priorities. • Lead discovery and analysis to inform build-versus-buy decisions, including ROI analysis and evaluation of third-party solutions where appropriate. • Be curious and willing to learn, building a deep understanding of our clients' evolving needs and the UK HR and Employment Law landscape. Roadmap & Backlog Management • Define and manage the Atlas roadmap for Citation UK, balancing strategic priorities with tactical delivery. • Create and maintain a clear, structured product backlog with an agreed MVP and subsequent iterations, explicitly considering associated risks and trade-offs. • Manage and prioritise the product and sprint backlogs based on product strategy, business objectives, and validated learnings. Delivery & Execution • Act as the primary product interface for an engineering team, ensuring high-quality delivery of features and functionality. • Articulate clear briefs, user stories, and functional documentation, communicating requirements effectively to development and UX teams. • Oversee development sprint cycles, tracking progress and removing blockers to keep delivery on course. • Lead core agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives, with guidance and support from our Agile Community. Stakeholder Engagement • Partner with key stakeholders – including clients, internal business teams, and development teams – to ensure problems, goals, and objectives are clearly understood and shared. • Gain alignment and approval from senior stakeholders on recommendations and rollout plans, constructively addressing any uncertainty or concerns. • Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Service, Marketing, and Data teams to ensure joined-up planning and delivery. Insight & Optimisation • Use customer and operational feedback, along with data, to generate ideas and proposals for improving Atlas products and workflows. • Understand, map, and continuously refine customer journeys, acting as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and delivery teams. • Take accountability for defining, tracking, and reporting on product KPIs, using insights to inform future prioritisation and iteration. • Implement data-informed features and improvements, including A/B testing and data tracking to monitor conversion and engagement. Subject Matter Expertise • Act as the Subject Matter Expert and evangelist for Atlas within Citation UK, championing its vision, roadmap, and impact. • Ensure Atlas is fit for purpose, resilient, and able to operate at scale for our client base.
Success Metrics • Increase client engagement and adoption of Atlas features within Citation UK. • Drive measurable improvements in client retention and satisfaction scores attributable to product improvements. • Deliver roadmap commitments on time and to quality, tracked through sprint velocity and release cadence. • Define and track leading and lagging product KPIs in partnership with your Product Leader and Commercial stakeholders. Contribute to measurable commercial outcomes for Citation UK, including growth in digital engagement, upsell conversion, and client lifetime value driven by product improvements. Build and maintain a clear commercial narrative for the Atlas roadmap, ensuring investment decisions are grounded in ROI and business impact.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
