The Team You’ll Join
The IT Team operates within our Business Services Division, overseeing all IT aspects—User Support, Infrastructure, Security, Data, and Development. This role sits within a cross-functional team focused on innovative technologies that enhance legal service delivery and improve client outcomes, aligned with our strategy: Empowering clients and colleagues to achieve their next level.
Key Work Focus
As a Product Owner, you’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders, legal practitioners, technical teams, clients, and third-party vendors to shape and deliver value-driven IT solutions, ensuring they are:
- Feasible (technically viable)
- Usable (intuitive for end-users)
- Productive (measurable value)
You’ll bridge business needs, technical constraints, and user feedback, championing evidence-based product thinking. Key responsibilities include:
Product & Roadmap Leadership
- Define a product vision and strategy, aligning decisions with firm-wide strategic priorities
- Own and execute the product roadmap, ensuring clear outcomes tied to measurable KPIs (client impact, colleague efficiency, business growth)
- Maintain discipline in decision-making, balancing urgency with long-term value
- Balance user evidence, business value, and technical feasibility to inform prioritisation and execution
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead cross-functional squads through the full product lifecycle, from discovery to delivery
- Champion Agile best practices, fostering psychological safety, transparency, and team efficiency
- Function as the primary liaison between stakeholders, legal teams, clients, and technical collaborators
- Stitch together insights from past feedback, analytics, and real user data to inform backlog prioritisation
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions with lawyers, operational, and technical teams
- Translate complex technical concepts into actionable, human-centric insights for non-technical audiences
- Provide truthful, data-driven updates to stakeholders—exciting progress, flagging roadblocks, and surfacing new opportunities
- Actively enforce client-and colleague-first thinking through evidence-backed storytelling

Data-Driven continuous Improvement
- Map and optimise legal workflows for accuracy, efficiency, and value (e.g., identifying bottlenecks in case management tools) -Plan service design activities like user journey mapping, value stream mapping, and UX reviews -Analyse product telemetry, user workflows, and feedback to iterate and improve releases -Continuously evolve backlog using learner-focused experiences and governed by criteria like ROI and regulatory compliance
Operational Risk & Coordination
- Completing a robust analysis of recurring issues through workflow breakdowns and problem statement refinement
- Validate vendor product fit via pilots and real-world testing
- Coordinate holistic delivery by balancing multi-team dependencies and cross-functional priorities
- Ramp up new tools with learners into adequate grips without over-adopting (e.g., liability risk in early software adoption)
Technical & Business Translation
- Act as the voice of the business in the room to ensure:
- Solutions solve customer pain points (user focus)
- Solutions align with business needs and measurable priorities (strategic alignment)
- Requirements are clear and disciplined within the context of specific product goals
- Employ product analytics to measure user activity, satisfaction, and usage patterns
- Enable decisions by summarizing need-over-friction spotlights through tools like Confluence, Trello, Jira, custom-built dashboards
Required Qualifications & Competencies
The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical product mastery in regulated environments and human-centric problem-solving expertise:
Experience
- Proven career as a Product Manager in tech, client-facing, professional services, or regulated industries (legal or financial services preferred)
- Strong portfolio from serving as product owner for tools used by business or legal teams
- Background in agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban) and product team maturity
Technical & Functional Skills
- Deep understanding of process improvement, workflow optimisation, and business process re-engineering (e.g., discretionary re-platforming, SaaS vernacular)
- Experience negotiating trade-offs between speed, cost, quality, and risk
- Worked with collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Jira, Miro) and analytics tools (power BI, GA)
- Familiar with regulatory constraints (e.g., GDPR, complex law firm constraints on managing client data)
Soft Skills
- Adaptability & resilience when addressing unpredictable roadblocks
- Ability to challenge assumptions without friction (non-compliant decision-making in team settings)
- Communication skills to explain nuances (to Aviators, executives, tech lead, clients)
- Curiosity & ownership—ventures will auspice ‘what could be done’ and stay engaged with evidence as it develops
- Active listening in preference to structured rules or slog
Attitude
- Product thinking beyond the ‘build it’ kickoff—measuring impact and contextualizing momentum (attach positive/negative alignment notes)
- Confidence in explaining trade-off decisions clearly without retreating or diluting scope
- Inquisitiveness towards why systems and personas behave the way they do (e.g., “I observe negotiation stalls and adhere to thisную workflow over rule X which effectively…”)
- Stewarding products to fulfill engineering pricing constraints while keeping coaching teams given prioritization obstacles linked to corporate and individual agendas
