Eaton – Burton on the Wolds

Location: This role is open to candidates based in the UK with a preference for proximity to Eaton’s Burton on the Wolds site.

As a key hub within Eaton’s EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) organisation, this site reports into Germany. It drives innovation for Eaton’s advanced fusing and switching product line, where big ideas are transformed into real-world solutions through Product Line Leadership, cutting-edge research and development (R&D), and a state-of-the-art Test Laboratory, all pushing performance to new heights.


About the Role: Senior Product Manager

Responsibilities

Strategic Product Development

  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic product plans across assigned product lines.
  • Evaluate initial customer product requests, co-ordinate resources, and collaborate across business functions to meet growth, market share, cost, profitability, and volume expectations on key projects.
  • Lead the product launch process, ensuring new products meet market expectations by assessing competitive offerings.

Cost and Process Optimisation

  • Prioritise plant, custom engineering, cost reduction initiatives, and process improvements through documented evaluations and commercial perspectives.
  • Assess product line cost reductions, modifications, and process improvements submitted by manufacturing, ensuring alignment with market demands.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as a key member of product development teams, guiding projects from concept through implementation and market launch using Eaton’s EBS framework.
  • Collaborate closely with Market and Geography Managers to balance competing business priorities.

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Oversee product literature development, ensuring accuracy in features, benefits, and performance data (both printed and electronic formats).
  • Drive market adaptation and penetration efforts, recommending promotional activities to strengthen position against competitors.

Planning and Forecasting

  • Create and maintain a five-year product plan (road map) for key product lines, aligning with Product Management and Marketing Managers.
  • Contribute to strategic and business planning by coordinating product planning inputs.
  • Manage forecast information, part-level resources, and financial data through Eaton’s SIOP PM (Sales and Operational Planning – Product Management) module.
  • Co-ordinate price and margin objectives with Eaton’s product-pricing team.

Skills and Qualifications

Key Capabilities

  • Financial acumen – Proficiency in evaluating investment opportunities and New Product Development (NPD) processes.
  • Technical awareness – Strong appreciation of manufacturing technologies, relying on engineers to stay updated.
  • Market and customer intelligence – Ability to work with sales teams to build and maintain customer insights.
  • Influencing and team leadership – Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and agency requirements; capability to guide cross-functional teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree (preferably in Commercial or Engineering disciplines).
  • 1–5 years of experience in marketing or engineering functions.
