As a Product Manager within our Fixed Income Index team (colocated in London), you’ll be an indispensable driver of growth—improving the index products that serve Bloomberg’s institutional clients across global capital markets.
The Opportunity
You’ll lead the ideation, development and launch of our Fixed Income Index offering. With the backing of Bloomberg’s full resources and deep financial expertise, you’ll pioneer market-leading solutions for institutional investors—helping them stay ahead in Fixed Income, Commodities, Equities, Cross-Asset, and ESG strategic benchmarking.
This role is ideal for a product visionary with a passion for both institutional finance and market-leading product development. You’ll bring technical rigor to index design, participate in innovative positioning discussions, and advocate for the client’s needs across internal teams. We’ll provide the tools and environment you need to launch successful innovations—a chance to shape a rapidly expanding part of Bloomberg’s business.
Key Accountabilities
You will be accountable for developing and driving the Bloomberg Fixed Income Index product roadmap, building influential relationships with clients, and influencing product vision.
Client Collaboration
- Partner directly with clients (asset managers, hedge funds, asset owners and index users) to translate their needs into actionable index solutions
- Collaborate with Index Sales to nurture client relationships and identify growth opportunities
- Solicit and translate client feedback to refine-index methodologies and enhance product differentiation
- Ensure alignment between Bloomberg’s product vision and client-facing solutions.
Strategic Product Development
- Generate and implement new index ideas for established client segments and emerging markets
- Adapt methodologies based on evolving asset manager strategies, regulatory frameworks (e.g. ESMA), and market innovations
- Leverage data insights from Bloomberg’s ///Terminal** to inform product enhancements
- Participate in product positioning and go-to-market meetings to align internal teams (MoM, Index Research, Engineering) on vision, message, and roadmap.

Product Ownership & Launch
- Champion products from ideation to launch, including backtesting, regulatory compliance, and commercial rollout
- Execute end-to-end execution of the index life cycle, managing from concept to indexing
- Synthesize client feedback and technical recommendations into methodologies and client deliverables
- Represent company interests to clients in thought leadership discussions, presenting complex methodologies professionally
Expected Knowledge & Experience
A wealth of index experience is an advantage—fixing minds on the role of indices in investment portfolios, capital markets and regulatory regimes.
Industry Mastery
- At least 5–10 years’ experience within the fixed-income asset class—either as an index standalone context, an index provider spanning the taxation or an instrument across markets
- Deep knowledge of how institutional asset managers use indices for benchmarking or as tradable instruments
- Expertise in evaluating strategies set against corresponding indices (stylistic, quantitative, actively managed)
- Comprehension of current market innovations (e.g., risk parity, factor investment, ESG, crypto, cross-asset solutions)
- Regulatory awareness (ESMA, SEC, MiFID II) to understand index governance impacts
Technical & Analytical Professionalism
- Quantitative acumen—ability to evaluate data, simulate index propositions, perform backtests and create ongoing analysis (Python/R fluency a plus)
- Robust understanding of portfolios, securities, risk management, and modern construction techniques
- Experience in writing white papers and crafting compelling presentations for client audiences
Soft Skills & Collaboration
- Exceptional client relationship management skills—ability to engage, decode user needs and solicit feedback effectively
- Strong analytical sales/MS relationship building—bridging between technical and stakeholder groups
- Exemplary communication and presentation skills—articulating insights to senior audiences and cross-functional teams
- A collaborative, customer-focused mindset—ready to build impactful consensus while pushing boundaries
