CONTRACT TYPE: FTC 6 months (maternity-cover)

DEPARTMENT: BBC Studios, Storyworks

LOCATION: London

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £50,000 - £60,000 + London Weighting (£5,441), depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM?

The Product Manager is responsible for leading the definition and delivery of bespoke digital products for BBC StoryWorks’ branded content campaigns.

The post holder plays a key role in translating client and editorial objectives into high-quality, innovative digital experiences, ensuring that products are delivered on time, on budget, and aligned to campaign KPIs.

This role sits at the intersection of editorial, commercial, and technical teams, requiring strong stakeholder management and the ability to balance creative ambition with feasibility and efficiency.

The Product Manager is also responsible for guiding product thinking across global RFPs and pitches, helping shape proposals, scope solutions, and inform pricing.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of custom websites and digital experiences for high-value branded content campaigns.
  • Define product functionality and user journeys aligned with campaign objectives, audience needs, and technical requirements.
  • Translate client briefs and creative concepts into clear product requirements, roadmaps, and delivery plans.
  • Partner with design, content, data, and QA teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality digital products.
  • Balance user experience, creative vision, and technical feasibility throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Act as the key liaison between editorial, commercial, design, technical, and regional stakeholder groups.
  • Support pitches and RFPs by advising on product strategy, scope, effort estimates, and pricing.
  • Own project delivery, managing budgets, timelines, risks, and trade-offs to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage third-party development agencies and vendors, ensuring quality, performance, and alignment with commercial agreements.
  • Leverage audience research and usability testing insights to optimise products, measure success, and drive continuous improvement.

Your Skills And Experience

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Experience delivering digital products in a fast-paced, client-facing environment (e.g., web agency, digital media, or advertising).
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept and pitch through to delivery and optimisation.
  • Ability to translate business and campaign objectives into effective digital product solutions.
  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and guide both internal teams and clients.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and external development partners.
  • Solid understanding of web technologies, UX principles, and digital production workflows.
  • Experience using user research and analytics to inform product decisions.

Desired Not Required

  • Experience working on branded content or campaign-led digital experiences.
  • Familiarity with global, multi-market campaign delivery.
  • Exposure to analytics platforms and experimentation frameworks.
