Product Owner
Billing Product Owner – Billing Transformation Programme
Location: Southampton (Hybrid)
We are delivering a major Billing Transformation Programme to introduce a new enterprise billing platform, replacing our existing system. While transitioning, we must maintain continuity, accuracy, and manage critical data, processes, and structures. This offers a unique opportunity to support a high-impact programme that protects and evolves our billing capability, ensuring a seamless transition to a future-ready solution.
About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced, highly driven Billing Product Owner to join DP World in Southampton and play a pivotal role in the Billing Transformation Programme. This critical position bridges business strategy and technical execution, ensuring the end-to-end ownership of the billing product for DP World UK.
As a Billing Product Owner, you will:
- Define and govern billing rules, logic, and configuration across Finance, Commercial, IT, and Operations.
- Align commercial agreements, system capabilities, and operational processes to guarantee seamless operations.
This role is ideal for professionals who excel in complex, data-centric environments, thrive in collaboration between business and technical teams, and demonstrate ownership of critical business products from transformation through to long-term operational management.
Key Contributions
- Expand and manage the billing product from its current state to the new enterprise Zodiac platform, ensuring:
- Ownership of end-to-end billing product, including rules, logic, and configuration principles.
- Central authority for billing-related decisions, governance, and change control.
- Definition and delivery of the billing Target Operating Model (TOM) including processes, controls, governance, and roles.

Ensure alignment between stakeholders and systems:
- Harmonise commercial agreements, tariff structures, and billing system configurations.
- Translate complex commercial requirements into clear billing logic and system rules.

Lead billing system configuration:
- Govern configuration standards in areas such as master data, rate structures, and documentation.
- Approve and control changes to billing rules, ensuring integrity and traceability.

Advocate as the liaison between departments:
- Facilitate collaboration across Finance, Commercial, IT, and Operations.

Drive adoption of new billing platforms:
- Lead the definition of billing requirements for the Zodiac system.
- Validate system design and configurations, ensuring business-fit.
- Support testing, rollout, and end-user adoption of the new platform.

Garner long-term consistency and accuracy:
- Ensure consistent and accurate billing outputs across terminals.
- Develop and retain billing knowledge, reducing dependency on individual SMEs.
- Establish sustainable governance frameworks post-implementation.
- Take ongoing ownership and evolution of the billing product after go-live.
Key Requirements
To succeed in this role, we are looking for:
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven understanding of billing processes, tariff structures, and commercial logic.
- Experience gained in finance, commercial, or operational environments.
- Technical familiarity with billing systems or complex, data-heavy processes.
- Demonstrated ability in translating business requirements into technical system rules and configurations.
- Experience in cross-functional transformation programmes, particularly those bridging business and IT.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a disciplined, structured approach.
- High attention to detail, complemented by a proactive ownership mindset.
- Bilingual communication skills, effectively brokering between business perspectives and technical teams.
- Well-developed decision-making abilities, particularly in structures involving governance and control.
- Effective stakeholder management and communication across diverse teams.
- Resilience and adaptability in the context of challenging, evolving environments.
