Product Owner
Product Owner Permanent – Enterprise Technology, Manchester
Salary: £54,300 - £60,700 Working Arrangements: Hybrid – two days per week in the office, with Thursday as the team anchor day
Introduction
AQA is looking for an experienced product owner to join Enterprise Technology and help shape how change requests, product priorities, and stakeholder expectations are managed across a growing delivery pipeline. This is a role with real visibility, variety, and influence in a team that is increasingly in demand across the business.
Purpose of the Role
You will be the focal point between business stakeholders and the internal delivery team, helping to turn business needs into a clear, prioritised technology pipeline.
Project Scope
The role supports products including:
- Power Platform
- Dynamics 365
- Custom applications built using Power Platform and Dataverse
- Potential future exposure to Copilot
Your work will aid AQA in delivering practical, well-managed technology change that supports colleagues, customers, and learners.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Owning prioritisation and delivery:
- Managing the delivery backlog to align stakeholder expectations, timelines, risks, and necessary reprioritisation.
- Facilitating team processes:
- Leading stand-ups, planning, and retrospectives while maintaining pragmatic and proportionate workflows.
- Tracking progress and managing delivery decisions:
- Using tools like Azure DevOps to monitor work, set expectations, and support decision-making.
- Serving as a bridge between business and technology:
- Clarifying initiatives that directly address day-to-day operational needs while influencing long-term strategies for Enterprise Apps (Dynamics 365, Power Platform, custom apps).
Specific Core Activities
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Collaborate intensively with business leaders and frontline teams to translate needs into actionable priorities.
- Champion user engagement, training, and adoption across diverse AQA functions.
- Pipeline Optimization & Delivery:
- Prioritise and optimise roadmaps/backlogs while managing coverage, dependencies, risks, and budget.
- Ensure alignment with ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, and AQA’s compliance framework.
- Change & Risk Management:
- Design acceptance and prioritisation mechanisms as gateways for change requests.
- Execute continuous change-control processes to eliminate gaps in delivery.
- Stewardship & Compliance:
- Oversee lifecycle cost management and compliance assessment for systems (e.g. licensing, usage audits).
- Lead risk assessments, continuity planning, and incident resolution for high-impact systems.

What We Are Looking For
Who This Role Fit For:
An accomplished product owner or similar with:
- Earthy experience in product ownership (Delivery Manager, Pipeline Owner, etc.)
- Deep knowledge balancing business goals with flexible delivery frameworks (e.g. Agile)
- Sharp stakeholder navigation: Proven ability to consult, influence, and advise on designs that yield quantifiable value.
Key Requirements
Toasted experience with:
- Enterprise technology stacks: Dynamics 365 (Sales, CS), Power Platform, Azure environment, and related customisations.
- Azure DevOps and Agile 대회식재리 guiding teams at scale.
- Requirement management: Resolving trade-offs and ensuring alignment across internal departments and stakeholders.
- Quality delivery and compliance: Focussing on ISO9001/ ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, etc.
- Continual optimisation: Innovative mindset and tech/process familiarity cross unittesting through delivery to ensuring end-to-end efficiency.
Indispensable Soft Skills:
- Consultative emotional intelligence (pragmatic dissensus of negotiate challenges)
- Evidence-based communication internally and with commercial contacts.
- Commercial adaptability: Chase results while embracing changing priorities.

Ownership and Scope
- Band A (Exams/Sales): Full ownership (initiation, prioritisation, delivery, and dementia analysis) of solutions in design and user impact.
- Business Alignment: Barrier and make joint delivery decisions between stakeholders from senior subject areas and IT.
- Resourcing: Matrix-manage BAs, designers, and suppliers to execute projects efficiently.
