Product Owner – Data Platform (Life Sciences / AI & Scientific Data)

📍 Location: London, UK (Office-based) 📅 Duration: 6 months 💷Rate: £470 per day (Contract) 🧩 Role Type: Contract 👥 Number of Positions: 2

The Role

We are seeking a Product Owner to act as the key interface between business stakeholders, scientific users, and engineering teams. You will define, prioritise, and deliver product features across a scientific data and analytics platform, ensuring maximum value delivery and alignment with business and research needs.

This role sits within a life sciences / biotech data environment, supporting platforms that enable data ingestion, processing, governance, and access for scientific and analytical use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the product backlog, roadmap, and prioritisation across multiple workstreams
  • Translate complex scientific and data requirements into clear, actionable user stories
  • Work closely with data engineers, software engineers, data scientists, and scientific stakeholders
  • Drive end-to-end product delivery using Agile methodologies (Scrum / SAFe)
  • Ensure alignment between technical delivery and scientific/business outcomes
  • Support delivery of data platform capabilities, including:
    • Ingestion
    • Processing
    • Storage
    • Access layers
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement across R&D, analytics, and engineering teams
  • Manage dependencies across multiple global teams and delivery streams
  • Ensure delivery quality through JIRA-based tracking and Agile ceremonies
  • Contribute to product governance, documentation, and release planning

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or Technical Product Manager
  • Strong background in data platforms, analytics platforms, or enterprise data products
  • Hands-on experience in Agile delivery (Scrum / SAFe) and JIRA
  • Ability to translate complex technical or data requirements into product features
  • Experience working with engineering and data science teams
  • Strong stakeholder management across technical and business domains
  • Understanding of cloud-based data platforms (AWS / Azure / Databricks / Snowflake)
  • Experience delivering multi-workstream or platform-level products

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in life sciences, biotech, biopharma, or pharmaceutical environments
  • Exposure to scientific data, research data, or bioinformatics platforms
  • Understanding of multi-omics data (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics, functional assays)
  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and FAIR principles
  • Experience working with regulated environments (GxP, compliance, audit frameworks)
  • Knowledge of data ontologies or scientific data standards
