Product Owner

Technical Product Owner (Contract)

Location: Northampton

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Product Owner who can effectively bridge the gap between business and technology teams. The ideal candidate will:

  • Challenge delivery assumptions
  • Make informed prioritisation decisions
  • Drive successful migration outcomes in a complex enterprise environment
  • Demonstrate strong delivery leadership
  • Exhibit excellent stakeholder management capabilities
  • Have experience working on large-scale cloud or data platform transformation programmes

The role combines product ownership, technical delivery leadership, and stakeholder management to ensure business requirements are translated into prioritised backlogs, delivered through Agile engineering teams, and migrate business capabilities to the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP).

Unlike a traditional Product Owner, this role is highly technical and delivery-focused, requiring expertise in:

  • Cloud migration
  • Data platforms
  • Engineering delivery lifecycles
  • Platform dependencies
  • Enterprise governance processes

The Technical Product Owner owns delivery outcomes but is not responsible for detailed solution architecture or day-to-day engineering execution.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Delivery Leadership

  • Own delivery of assigned EDP Cloud Migration workstreams and use cases
  • Define and communicate:
    • Clear product objectives
    • Delivery priorities
    • Success measures
  • Translate business strategy and migration objectives into actionable delivery plans
  • Drive delivery of business outcomes through Agile squads
  • Balance:
    • Business priorities
    • Technical dependencies
    • Delivery constraints
    • Risk
  • Ensure alignment with:
    • Programme roadmap
    • Migration milestones

Backlog Ownership & Prioritisation

  • Manage squad backlog effectively
  • Prioritise Epics, Features, and User Stories based on:
    • Business value
    • Technical dependencies
    • Programme objectives
  • Collaborate with Technical Business Analysts
  • Ensure backlog items comply with Definition of Ready (DoR) standards
  • Make prioritisation decisions amid competing demands
  • Support:
    • Quarterly planning
    • Sprint planning
    • Roadmap reviews
  • Coordinate backlog dependencies across multiple squads and workstreams

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
