Product & Process Technician – Bio-Resource Department (Sandall WwTW) /
Location: Rotherham, Barnsley, or Doncaster Commute Required

The Role: Product & Process Technician
A permanent position offering 37 hours per week on a 7-day working pattern (rotating weekends). Contract: Standard full-time (standard contractual hours but includes shifts). Hours Include:
- 07:00–19:00 on-site Monday to Sunday
- Rotational weekend shifts (compensated with rest days)
- Out-of-hours emergency cover provided after fully trained
This role requires hands-on operation, technical problem-solving, and full compliance with safety protocols in a critical 24/7 asset.
Responsibilities
- Daily Operations: Conduct manual workforce tasks, calibrated checks, maintenance, and routine workflow for the wastewater treatment works (WwTW).
- Process Management:
- Use manual and digital system data to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Optimise efficiency—measured by cost reduction, energy savings, and duty target compliance.
- Health & Safety Leadership:
- Implement rigorous safety practices—mitigate workplace hazards, manage contractors through Control of Work policies, and ensure visitor briefings.
- Lead a safe working environment for all staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Procedural Excellence:
- Prioritise workload to maximise operational efficiency against available resources.
- Keep up-to-date with otechnological advances and departmental workflow plans.
- Operational Repairs:
- Address and resolve critical site anomalies to avoid production disruptions.
- Environmental Protection:
- Contribute to sustainable practices within Bio-Resources.
- Emergency Response (after training): Provide after-hours operational cover during scheduled holidays and incidents.

Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in technical/manual work, especially in process-oriented industries (e.g., utilities, consumer packaging, construction).
- Ability to solve problems and drive continuous improvement in workflow.
- Proven skills in prioritisation, delegation, and time management.
- Competence with IT-based tools, including data analysis and monitoring.
Strict Health & Safety Compliance
- Must pass mandatory pre-employment medicals, including:
- BMI assessment, vision, hearing, blood pressure, and Spirometry testing
- Must operate safely in confined spaces and handle raw sewage.
Full Valid Driving Licence
- No more than 6 penalty points.
Salary & Benefits Package
- Salary: £34,059–£42,574 (depending on experience).
- A company van for site access and travel.
- Annual bonus £1,000 max (performance linked).
