Product Safety Engineer
Bulgin is widely recognised as a leading manufacturer of environmentally sealed connectors and components. With over 100 years in the industry, Bulgin continues to innovate and develop products and services to cater for its global customer base across a variety of markets. We are looking for a Product Safety Engineer to join our busy Engineering team based in Cambridge.
The role
To take a lead on supporting the business with all product safety approval activities. This includes creation/maintenance of a global product approval database, along with managing all associated certification requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain product certification database as well as managing new certifications
- Actively keep up to date with relevant industry/international standards to support the job function
- Liaise with other departments (production, sales, finance, marketing) as required to fulfil the role
- Support sales with customer enquiries relating to approvals and certifications
- Keep the Product Safety Business Procedure relevant and comprehensive
- Provide technical expertise in the development of new products
- Share third-party product approval knowledge to the rest of the Engineering team
- Assist with team continuous improvement activities

Qualification and Experience
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline. Previous professional experience is desirable but candidates new to their career will be considered.
Essential:
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience working with technical standards (ISO, IEC, etc.)
- IT literate and fluent in Microsoft Office Applications, ERP-software
- Ability to clearly illustrate/communicate technical ideas
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience working in electrical and/or mechanical testing
- A familiarisation of relevant industry standards (IP & IK Ratings, ATEX, etc.)
- Membership of a relevant Engineering Institution
- Willingness to occasionally travel
