About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Product Security Engineer to join our team in Derby or Bristol. In this role, you will secure a broad range of Rolls-Royce (RR) products against evolving threats, including cyber and supply chain risks. Your work could span all stages of a project lifecycle—from concept design and integration to testing and production release—collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams across software, hardware, manufacturing, and corporate functions.
This role offers a chance to drive technical leadership in Systems Security Engineering, shape Secure Cyber Resilient Engineering (SCRE) across our flagship programs, and help grow Rolls-Royce’s capability in this pivotal area.
Core Responsibilities

Secure Cyber Resilient Engineering (SCRE) Apply technical expertise to protect RR products across their lifecycle, covering requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support.

Policy, Procedure, and Training Leadership Develop, implement, document, and maintain policies, procedures, guidelines, tools, and training—ensuring security standards are embedded in our engineering processes.

Technical Project Leadership Lead a small team or project within this domain, offering technical direction and functional knowledge to influence business outcomes.

Stakeholder Collaboration Work with government agencies, customers, suppliers, and industry experts to align security requirements with business and mission objectives.

Knowledge Development & Dissemination Research and share best practices, security policies, and standards across our business, enhancing resilience and capability.
What You’ll Need
Essential
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in:
- A relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Software, Controls, Systems, Cybersecurity)
- Experience of equivalent complexity in a related environment
Preferred
3+ years of experience in:
- Systems Security Engineering on real-time cyber-physical embedded systems (e.g., aviation, software-defined vehicles, medical devices, or weapon systems)
- Applications of security frameworks such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-160, DO-326, or DoDI 5000.83
OR
4+ years of experience in:
- Systems/Software/Electronics/Manufacturing Engineering
Desirable
- Systems Engineering aptitude: Experience analyzing complex system boundaries, interactions, and dependencies throughout the product lifecycle.
- Deep technical knowledge: Expertise in embedded systems design, implementation, and secure engineering practices.
- Cybersecurity expertise: Experience with threat detection, digital forensics, risk assessment, and standardized security policies.
- Cross-business influence: Ability to communicate complex security topics to non-technical stakeholders with clarity and effect.
