We’re looking for a Product Stewardship Toxicologist to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity of our products across both our combustible and Next Generation Product (NGP) portfolios in Bristol.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your specialist expertise in a role that blends science, innovation and real world impact. You’ll help shape how we understand and assess ingredients and materials, while driving the future direction of our toxicological strategy. With oversight of our Product Stewardship Testing Programme, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our products meet the highest standards of safety, compliance and scientific excellence.
Principle Accountabilities
- Provide expert toxicological advice on the evaluation and testing of ingredients and finished products, ensuring high professional standards and sound scientific interpretation.
- Act as the Toxicology and Product Risk Assessment Subject Matter Expert (SME) across various projects and other regulatory and research activities.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of risk assessment, exposure, and consumption models, ensuring they are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
- Deliver expert input on health-related consumer complaints in accordance with internal RAP processes and the EU General Product Safety Directive.
- Ensure timely and compliant technical outputs, including toxicological profiles, reporting database maintenance, and submission of documentation to EU and Rest of World (RoW) teams.
- Monitor regulatory and scientific developments, maintain professional accreditation, represent the organisation externally, and contribute to the interpretation of new or evolving toxicological regulations.

Skills and Experience Required
- Postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in Toxicology with at least 3 years’ experience in a commercial, industrial, or regulatory environment
- EU Registered Toxicologist (ERT) status, or equivalent professional accreditation
- Strong ability to review, interpret, and critically evaluate scientific literature, contextualising key developments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex scientific information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Self-motivated, logical, and reliable, with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, supported by strong influencing skills and good IT proficiency
