Product Support Specialist

Product Support Specialist – Manual & Robotic

Location: Scotland Wide (travel across Scotland required)


Position Summary

To grow Stryker’s Joint Replacement business through Hip and Knee products, specifically by:

  • Strengthening relationships with Orthopaedic Surgeons
  • Providing technical support and fostering customer satisfaction
  • Acting as a product support specialist for Manual & Robotic solutions, including the Mako robotic system

Product Advocacy & Sales Support:

  • Communicate the clinical and commercial benefits of hip and knee products.
  • Build strong working relationships with surgeons and hospital staff.
  • Use open questioning and troubleshooting opportunities to grow and protect the business.
  • Collaborate with the sales team, Regional Sales Manager (RSM), and cross-functional departments to develop strategies for customer retention and expansion.
  • Monitor market trends and challenges, identifying solutions in alignment with Stryker’s objectives.

Clinical & Technical Support – Mako Robotics:

  • Provide front-line clinical and technical support across the surgical journey:
    • Pre-operative: Prepare CT scans for Mako case planning, assist with implant positioning.
    • Intra-operative: Guide surgeons and staff on robot set-up, operation, and breakdown.
    • Post-operative: Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate as needed.
  • Work with the Field Service team to resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Develop broad technical and procedural expertise in both manual and robotic orthopaedic surgeries.
  • Training Requirements:
    • Complete Mako 101 & 201 and obtain certification for full robotic-assisted surgery applications.
    • Achieve proficiency in Stryker Joint Replacement (JR) 101 & 201 training.
    • Cover complex primary and revision hip & knee procedures.

Sales & Commercial Awareness:

  • Understand multiple stakeholders in the purchasing decision.
  • Leverage relationships to identify growth opportunities.

  • Develop short- to medium-term strategies for market growth and secure Stryker’s position.

Teamwork & Admin:

  • Lead planning and prioritisation of daily, weekly, and monthly activities with input from mentors.
  • Leverage IT-based CRM tools effectively to track customer interactions.
  • Purposely contribute to internal meetings to support growth and development.

Technical & Professional Skills:

  • Business acumen with evidence of sales or medical sales experience.
  • Valid full driving license with willingness to travel as part of the role.
  • OR Experience (highly desirable).
  • Solid grasp of medical surgeon dynamics, particularly Physiotherapy/Orthopaedics-Manual/Wound-healing (MSK) pathologies.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and an ability to quickly assimilate new procedural and technological skills.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree level education is advantageous, especially in medical, engineering, physiotherapy or related domains.
  • Preferable: Prior work-and-shadowing experiences within a healthcare, medical technology, or sales setting.
  • Skills in Stryker’s software or robotic systems are desirable but not mandatory.
