Salary: £19.72 per hour Location: Shrewsbury

About IPSD (Industrial Power Systems Division)
Caterpillar’s IPSD Division designs, tests, and manufactures 0.5 to 18-litre Cat® and Perkins engines—powering 5,000+ applications, including:
- Marine
- Petroleum
- Industrial
- Electric Generators
- Locomotives

Job Summary
As a Product Technician, you’ll be the quality guardian of the manufacturing process—ensuring every engine meets Caterpillar’s exacting standards.
You’ll work within the Quality Pillar, acting as the technical expert for our products, collaborating closely with:
- Operations
- Test
- Quality Engineering
- Process Engineering
- Customer Support

Your responsibility? Keep quality on track—from design to delivery—while driving continuous improvement across the production line.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be expected to:

Technical Expertise
- Lead as the product subject matter expert, clarifying requirements, specifications and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance on build standards, functionality, and performance expectations.

Root Cause Analysis & Troubleshooting
- Support quality investigations, helping diagnose build failures, defects, and test issues.
- Collaborate with Operations and Test teams to resolve stop-to-fix issues and prevent recurring problems.

Investigate & Improve
- Participate in root cause investigations, ensuring corrective actions avoid future issues.
- Validate technical solutions for compliance with both product and customer needs.

Change Management & Innovation
- Assist with product trials, engineering changes, and quality improvements.
- Stay informed on new engineering specs, firmware updates, and evolving build standards.

Continuous Improvement
- Identify ergonomic, process, or design enhancements that boost quality, consistency, and manufacturability.
About You
