We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Product Technologist to join our innovative team. This role involves supporting the development, testing, and quality assurance of our products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong analysis skills and a passion for continuous improvement within a dynamic environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to product innovation and gain valuable industry experience.
Job Purpose
Supporting the NPD and Technical Function driving the development and quality of new and current products whilst adhering to and endorsing site quality management systems.
- Following the NPD process to assist with the launch cycle of products from concept through the post launch review to achieve set quality, commercial and site compatibility standards.
- Publish and train recipe methods and product quality attribute sheets to the team to ensure consistent quality can be achieved and maintained on every bottle.
Key Responsibilities
Concept NPD & EPD
- Shadow and assist Chef / MD with the generation of new concepts and kitchen make ups.
- Make kitchen samples to support NPD and EPD progression for recipe concept amends, customer submissions and panel tastings.
- Run panel tastings to test EPD changes and collate data into reportable findings.
- Assess and load new raw material specifications onto the RM Master. Compare against comparable lines and collate all further information required for approval.
- Generate Product, Batch and Line Records for Production and taste panels.
- Monitor Launch / Product Trials whilst recording all relevant data to provide learnings and consistency across development / product process.
- Provide ongoing product NPD / EPD support to the factory by assisting on the general production quality enquiries and inconsistencies.
- Prepare Finished Product Specifications both internal and customer specific.
- Review and approve all new artworks and sign in labels on delivery.

Quality & Product
- Manage and complete Daily Taste Panels with trend analysis on results ensuring all NCR’s are investigated and closed out.
- Investigate attend / answer factory queries in relation to product consistency or quality.
- Manage Supplier, Production and Technical NCR’s ensuring all actions are closed out with key learnings trained out and implemented.
- Manage the internal audit program to drive continuous improvement in standards and quality.
- Ensure effective investigation, communication and reporting of customer complaints and queries.
- Conduct scheduled traceability exercises to ensure systems and processes in place continue to remain effective.
- Compile Exportation paperwork and approval as and when required.
- Champion Sauce Shops Food Safety Culture.
- Manage the Pest Control relationship and schedule.
- Day to day Salsa / BRC and retailer audit management and actioning close outs from external auditors.
- Control Technical consumables stock.
- Support on customer visits, retailer benchmarking, audits and product requests; coordinating and collaborating across the site to ensure a successful outcome.

Qualifications and knowledge
- Food Science degree or equivalent.
- Good level of literacy and numeracy.
- Highly analytical.
- FMCG Sector knowledge desirable.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Great at building relationships internally and externally.
- Knowledge of effective structures and team dynamics and training and development needs.
