Production Controller (Maternity Cover) (Secondment)

📍 Onsite role – Derby | 37 hours per week

About the Role

We’re seeking a production controller to join our team in Derby on a secondment basis. This role will ensure the smooth flow of production activities by aligning execution with planning systems, mitigating supply chain disruptions, and maintaining high operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan Compliance & Execution:

    • Drive adherence to production commitments, ensuring the MRP system and supporting tools remain accurate.
    • Monitor operational execution against planned activities while maintaining alignment between production teams and planning systems.
  • Delivery & Risk Management:

    • Proactively identify and prioritise delivery risks, providing clear escalation plans with mitigation strategies.
    • Lead the response to supply chain disruptions, including generating and coordinating swap sheets with technical control to minimise impact on inventory and output.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:

    • Act as the primary liaison for supply chain and customer delivery matters, collaborating with:
      • Internal stakeholders (e.g., planning, operations)
      • QRs/QRs, Customer Delivery, and balancing control teams
    • Facilitate real-time adjustments to prevent potential shortages affecting operational performance.
  • Performance Analytics:

    • Analyse and report on key production metrics, including:
      • Launch performance
      • Lead-time adherence
      • Throughput efficiency
    • Provide actionable insights to improve process flow and meet business targets.
  • Visibility & Alignment:

    • Ensure shop floor visibility of production plans and operational targets, monitoring performance against established business standards.
    • Coordinate a cross-functional workflow between planning, production, and supply chain teams in line with Rolls-Royce operational standards.

  • System Integrity & Data Accuracy:
    • Maintain enterprise resource planning (ERP) system integrity (primarily SAP).
    • Align ERP data with manufacturing execution traceability (MET), ensuring real-time accuracy for decision-making and supply chain alignment with internal systems.

Requirements & Skills

Experience & Expertise

  • Strong supply chain planning and control experience, with proven ability to juggle multiple priorities.

  • Ability to balance short-term delivery demands while supporting long-term operational goals.

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams within high-performance manufacturing environments and adapting to changing priorities.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting, and visualisation).
    • Hands-on experience with manufacturing execution systems, such as MET.
    • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (particularly SAP) to maintain data accuracy.
    • Familiarity with MRP planning tools used in aerospace manufacturing.

  • Advanced problem-solving to troubleshoot delivery issues while escalating strategic risks.
  • Attention to detail when handling data, schedules, and system maintenance.

Salary & Position Level: Gross Annually permanent equ 30 - 45k. Professional Bands: SNBG 07–10 Standard for this role. Notice: Refri-Graded applications with relevant experience from any grade are welcomed.
