Senior Production Engineer

Location: Teledyne Reynolds, Newbury, Berkshire

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated provides enabling technologies for industrial growth markets, including aerospace and defence, factory automation, environmental monitoring, medical imaging, and space exploration.


About the Role

The Senior Production Engineer at our Manufacturing facility in Newbury, Berkshire will play a key role in designing, building, and testing custom High Reliability Interconnect Solutions. Our cable systems support critical technologies including:

  • Aircraft cockpit systems
  • Avionics, radars and navigation tools
  • Semiconductor inspection and testing
  • Scientific missions (e.g. Mars rovers, asteroid orbiters)

We are experiencing growth in our Defence, Commercial and Space markets and are expanding our team to support new product development. The ideal candidate will drive process improvements across manufacturing, test, and operational workflows.


Key Responsibilities

Process Oversight & Compliance

  • Oversee end-to-end manufacture of high-reliability interconnect products, ensuring adherence to documented specifications and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including tooling, build aids and test equipment specifications.
  • Ensure capital equipment compliance with industry standards (e.g., maintenance, upgrades).

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead change requests, initial problem analysis, and solutions to prevent recurring production stops.
  • Promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives alongside the operations team.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Act as the main interface between production staff, engineering and support teams on NPI (New Product Introduction) and legacy products.
  • Aid Sales, Engineering and Purchasing with technical insights on build timelines, leadtimes, component selection, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure high production yield of compliant products.

Problem Resolution & Training

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and test issues, partnering with operators and technicians.
  • Conduct site-wide TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) schedules and new process/equipment training.
  • Support the Operations Manager in achieving OTD (On-Time Delivery), PONC (Perfect Orders) and revenue targets.

Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Proven working knowledge of cable harness manufacturing, production processes, tooling, and test equipment. -strong preference for a HNC/HND in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Skill in root cause analysis, detailed problem-solving, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Competency in Excel, Access, MRP systems, and CAD-based drafting tools.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills (both internal and external).
