Deep Sea Electronics is a global leader in the design and manufacture of generator controllers, automatic transfer switch controllers, battery chargers, and vehicle and off-highway control systems. With over 200 employees across four continents, we supply our products to customers in more than 150 countries, both directly from our UK head office and through a well-established international distributor network.
About the Role
As part of our Operations team, the Production Engineer will play a key role in driving efficiency and continuous improvement across our manufacturing processes. You will identify opportunities to reduce waste and eliminate inefficiencies, applying Lean tools and techniques to develop streamlined systems that effectively integrate people, materials, machines, information, and energy.
In this role, you will also support CAPEX projects and wider site initiatives, contributing to the ongoing development of our operations.
The Production Engineer is responsible for designing, optimising, and overseeing production processes to ensure they are safe, efficient, and cost-effective. With a strong focus on quality, safety, and performance, you will be instrumental in enhancing our production capabilities and delivering operational excellence.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing production processes to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve safety and reliability, in collaboration with others
- Analysing production data to identify inefficiencies and implementing corrective measures
- Applying new technologies and methodologies in manufacturing practices to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- Investigating and troubleshooting problems arising with processes, machinery, and equipment
- Maintaining and calibrating technical equipment to ensure optimum performance
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety and environmental regulations
- Developing budgets, cost analyses, and project schedules to align with operational goals
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering departments
- Coordinating with other engineers and suppliers to resolve quality problems
- Developing specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with colleagues
- Ensuring all production equipment complies with safety standards and regulations
- Training and supervising team members in new production processes, equipment usage, safety procedures, and process improvements

Requirements
- Lean and 6 Sigma techniques and methodologies experience preferred
- Advanced Excel skills required
- MRP/ERP knowledge
- Strong practical ‘hands-on’ approach
- Highly organised, analytical
- Excellent soft skills and teamworking ability
- At least 5 years of engineering experience in a production environment, preferably electronics-related
- Black Belt / Green Belt or relevant production improvement methodologies experience
