Production Engineering Manager – Bowers & Wilkins Facility
About the Role
At Sound United, we’re dedicated to bringing joy through sound—and contributing to high-end audio technologies like headphones, speakers, and home entertainment systems.
As the Production Engineering Manager at the Bowers & Wilkins facility in Worthing, West Sussex, you’ll lead a team of multi-disciplinary production engineers to deliver product and process excellence throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase and across the product lifecycle.
You’ll drive improvements, maintain ISO 9001 compliance, and lead a team that is pivotal in supporting production, engineering, and maintenance for Bowers & Wilkins and other global Harman brands.
Key Responsibilities

Lead Technical Operations:
- Oversee process technologies, functions, and controls to ensure product delivery aligns with company standards.
- Drive risk management, process improvements, and maintain Production Engineering documentation in compliance with ISO 9001.

Equipment & Infrastructure Development:
- Identify upgrades and improvements for machinery, plant, and maintenance requirements.
- Plan and budget CAPEX initiatives to enhance production capabilities and long-term strategic goals.

Team Leadership & Growth:
- Mentor, coach, and manage a multi-disciplinary team to achieve commitments.
- Monitor staffing, training, and recruitment needs to ensure expertise aligns with production demands.
- Conduct performance reviews, talent development, and conduct risk assessments to ensure workplace safety.

- Critical Maintenance & Compliance:
- Plan and ensure execution of machine maintenance during annual factory shutdowns.
- Ensure adherence to H&S regulations and proper documentation to maintain compliance and safety standards.
What You Need to Succeed
You’ll thrive in this role if you have extensive experience in:
- HNC/D or degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).
- Proven track record in engineering environments with a strong focus on:
- Technical process management.
- Team alignment with operational goals.
- Risk management and compliance oversight.
Essential Skills & Experience: ✔ Strong people management expertise—including talent development. ✔ Deep understanding (or experience) working in high-volume manufacturing environments. ✔ Clear and confident communication skills. ✔ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). ✔ Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple levels.
(Bonus! If you have experience with ILM Level 3 Leadership, ISO 9001, SAP, lean manufacturing or six sigma—sharing your expertise will be a big plus)

- Full fluency in English.
- Commuted proximity to Worthing, West Sussex, UK.
- Full-time commitment (5 days a week, 8 AM–5 PM) at the manufacturing site.
