Production Executive
Production Executive – Hybrid (Exeter, Devon or Poundbury, Dorset)
Salary: GBP £30,000 per annum Vacancy Type: Full-time, permanent
About the Role
We are seeking a Production Executive to join our Production and Operations team. Working alongside the Production Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality books to readers worldwide.
This role will focus on managing our reprint programme, ensuring titles remain available through the most efficient and cost-effective print solutions. You will collaborate with UK and international print partners, explore opportunities for digital and local printing, and drive continuous improvement in our production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the production of book reprints, from quotations through to placement and delivery.
- Obtain and evaluate print quotations, balancing cost, quality, and lead times.
- Develop and manage relationships with digital print suppliers (UK and international), identifying opportunities for on-demand and short-run production.
- Contribute to print specification decisions.
- Coordinate freight logistics for books to UK and international distribution partners.
- Raise purchase orders, prepare production costings, and manage print approvals.
- Liaise with Editorial, Design, Pre-Press, Sales, and Finance teams to coordinate reprints, corrections, and file updates.
- Maintain accurate production records within our publishing management system.
- Support implementation of errata, file revisions, and updated editions.
- Monitor supplier performance, proactively improving quality, service, and cost efficiency.
- Assist in evaluating and selecting new print and freight suppliers as our supply chain evolves.

About You

We are looking for an organised, commercially astute professional who thrives in managing multiple projects simultaneously. You will ideally:
- Have book or print production experience with a strong understanding of the entire print process.
- Possess excellent attention to detail, numerical skills, and proficiency in communication.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with a publishing management system (e.g., Biblio) is advantageous.
This role requires periodic office attendance in Exeter, including during the training period.
