The Role

STV News is looking for a talented Production Journalist to join the STV News newsroom to help deliver high-quality output across our digital and broadcast platforms.

This is a digitally led role at the heart of our trusted, live news operation. The key responsibility is to produce timely, accurate and engaging journalism across our website, apps and social channels.

The successful candidate will be confident working with the live news agenda, have strong editorial judgment and ensure published content meets our legal, editorial and regulatory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate, accessible and engaging news for our website and social channels, working to the pace of the live agenda.
  • Meet STV News values across all output and exercise sound editorial judgment.
  • Use trusted sources to identify and follow up on news and emerging developments.
  • Deliver content with clarity, authority and a strong sense of audience needs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the newsroom to ensure a joined-up approach to output across all platforms.
  • Publish content that fully complies with editorial standards, media law and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support broadcast output on a rota basis as and when required.
  • Assist in any other aspects of work of the company as reasonably required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
