Role Overview

The Production Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the assembly and production function, ensuring delivery against safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

The role will lead multiple individuals and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Planning to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and scalable production capability.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, can adapt to changing priorities, and enjoys taking a hands-on approach to getting things done.

Responsibilities

Production & Operations

  • Own production performance across the assembly area, delivering against KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost)
  • Develop and execute production plans in line with business demand and capacity
  • Ensure effective resource planning across people, equipment, and materials
  • Drive performance management through data, identifying trends and implementing improvements
  • Lead daily/weekly production reviews and performance tracking
  • Resolve escalated production issues and mitigate risks to delivery
  • Work with Planning, Supply Chain, and Engineering to align production schedules and priorities

People Leadership

  • Lead, manage, and develop Team Leaders/Technicians and their teams
  • Build a high-performing, accountable production organisation
  • Own workforce planning, structure, and resource capability within production
  • Drive performance management across the function, including addressing underperformance
  • Support recruitment, succession planning, and leadership development
  • Foster strong engagement, culture, and communication across the shop floor

Quality

  • Own quality performance across production, including defect reduction and right-first-time delivery
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering to improve manufacturing processes and standards
  • Ensure robust root cause analysis and preventative actions are embedded

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Lead by example on safe working practices and PPE usage
  • Take full responsibility for health, safety, and environmental performance within production
  • Ensure a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE standards

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and deliver continuous improvement strategy across production
  • Identify and implement efficiency, cost, and throughput improvements
  • Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives and embed CI culture across teams
  • Deliver measurable improvements in productivity and operational performance

Essential skills

  • Significant experience in a manufacturing or production environments
  • Previous experience in a Production Manager or similar leadership role
  • Experience leading multiple teams through supervisors or team leaders
  • Strong understanding of production planning, capacity management, and operational performance
  • Proven ability to deliver against production KPIs and drive measurable improvements
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, using data to drive decisions
  • Experience implementing Lean/CI initiatives at scale
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
  • Calm and organised under pressure
  • Hands-on and proactive leadership style
  • Team-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strategic and commercially aware
  • Strong leadership presence and decision-making ability
  • Able to operate at both strategic and operational levels
